Clipper owners - mass locking other ships working?

I went from an asp to a clipper after ranking in sorbago, interdicted a player type 6 and i could not mass lock them to slow the fsd at all

the asp slows them down, why the clipper doesnt behave in same or better way (it is bigger after all)

bugged?

I've noticed through a lot of bounty runs that NPC's are not effected by other ships vicinity to them. Only players have that issue, so NPC's can very easily FSD in a matter of seconds even if your flying a farrgut two meters from their cockpit :D

I mainly use mine for trading. I did interdict a player hauler once, took him a while to jump out. Would be good to know if it is bugged.

The player i chatted with had a type 6 and had no inhibition however mmh

hopefully other owners will chime in and shed some light

Morning bump

Ok I'm going to test this on the next player I find. Or if you want, come find me HIP 91187, I also have an Eagle & Adder docked here. Would like to see this fixed if the mass lock is incorrect.

Edit - Just remembered, I'm meeting a guy in a few hours to pick up his rare goods, he's stranded without fuel but can super cruise. I'll get up close and ask him to charge his drive and report the results

^^This
Which is total and really annoys me when Wanteds just FSD instantly with a small % left

Hm, could be that's because NPCs (and Players) were assumed to run into odd troubles after leaving busy stations.

Would be quite a hassle if every heavy that departed ahead of you in a similar direction caused "inhibited by Factor 8/12/16/24" Messages (?) NPCs wouldn't care much though, I don't think even their sometimes oddball-configured ships would overheat or something from the long spool-up times ?
Never quite thought about that until I read your post ;)

Either way, that part of the FSD inhibit mechanics would be worth looking into for the Devs, as it should work in NPCs as well indeed.

Well my Clipper get's inhibited when a Type-9 is near and I'm jumping from a station. It's all working as intended, except maybe the Clippers ability to mass lock

At work atm so can't check, but you could compare the mass statistics of the Type-6 and the Clipper. The Type-6 is Factor 14, one category above the Cobra. If the Clipper (even though it's quite spacious) is in the same mass range as the Type-6, then the pilot would not experience a mass lock. The Type-9 is over 400 tons, hence the mass lock on you.

Your figures are a little wrong. A Type-9 Empty is 1000T, A Type-6 Empty is 150T (Lighter than a Cobra) A Clipper is around 500T, mine weighs 590T Empty. But I never fly empty, it always weighs around 839T

The type-6 is very light for a freighter.

The Clipper (and the Python) currently cause no mass disruption.

I believe it is a glitch and I have ticketed it.

Hehe 1000, yeah I was quite off then. But fact is, the Type-6 masslocks my Cobra, even if flying empty. I know this because we fly together, and my friends T6 always locks me.

But seems according to the post above me that it's a bug atm. Hoping that by the time I get my Clipper I can properly mass lock that little flying coffin of a T6 ;)

Indeed, this is what I thoughtt

The clipper SHOULD mass lock anything smaller so type6,asp, cobra etc

What's the point in flying a big ship if you can't mass lock?
Makes pvp use pointless

Yes the clipper is bugged as the mass field does not reflect the size of the ship. I noticed the T9 and other large ships have a mass field that has a 3.2km sphere of influence, and the mass warning message goes a bit further. The exception is the clipper; I was able to engage the FSD with no warning while still within 1.5km of the ship.

Thanks
