What's the stupidest thing in this game?

There's a whole lot good about this game, but there are also many stupid things. A small sampling of the things I find stupid are: getting a bounty for accidental friendly fire; almost no punishment for murder; your refinery can't remember your what to do; finding cargo in deep space, and taking it, is illegal; and etc. But for me, the stupidest thing has to be that the black market is listed on the official station services interface. What were they thinking?

I could also ask what is the greatest thing, but there are so many great things that I could never pick just one.

You.

HURHURHURHURHUR. Someone had to say it.

Also, that my ship is so sophisticated that I can jump at faster-than-faster-than-light-speeds to reach distant stars in mere moments...

...yet to select a sensor contact, I have to press down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down space

For truly, that is the sign of a well-designed, futuristic interface.

The stupidest thing in this game is the ability to clean your status by paying a simple fine.... It completely ruins the pirate vs bounty hunter element

Oh, also - that the projected, holographic HUD whose data comes entirely from the sensors... deliberately obscures that which is not visible to the pilot.

Because that's totally why we have sensors. To show us things we can already see, and only things we can see.

Needing to get so close to a star that it fills almost my entire view until my basic discovery scanner notices it as a new astronomical thingy / "unexplored." It's RIGHT FREAKIN' THERE!

Oh! Yes! I hadn't thought of that. That's pretty stupid too.

And when you know that the only pink star in the entire sky is in-system, and the system map tells you it's in-system, but you still have to fly 1,000 LS to detect it!

Bind your D-Scanner to a firegroup then fire it off and you'll discover everything within a 500LS range.

The place holder that is USS...go find these top secret military plans...aka go find a USS....go find the black boxes of destroyed ships to hide our involvement...aka go find a USS...go kill pirates...aka go find a USS...assassinate X..aka go find a USS to be told what system your target is in then goto that system and ....find a USS.
What was wrong with the Frontier/FFE system of missions...take this to system X,go scout this system...your target will be here at this date stalk and kill....here is a nuclear missile go blow their base to bits.
