Anaglyph 3D badly implemented (not working well with red/blue glasses)

I bought some red/blue glasses off Amazon (which describes them as red/cyan) to use with Elite Dangerous' Anaglyph 3D mode... unfortunately it isn't working well, and I think it's Elite Dangerous' fault:

In Elite Dangerous the image intended for my 'blue' eye is partially visible with my 'red' eye (and vice versa to a small extent), thus ruining the 3D effect. Just close one eye to prove this is the case.

At first I wondered if my glasses were just rubbish, but when I search for "red cyan 3d picture" images on Google, I get PERFECT results with all the images. And if I close one eye, I see a perfect image which isn't shadowed by the image intended for the other eye.

So I'm pretty sure that Elite Dangerous' Anaglyph 3D mode simply doesn't work with traditional red/blue (red/cyan) 3D glasses. Very disappointed, as combined with head-tracking I should have been able to get a cheap alternative to Oculus Rift...

Seeing as Amazon sells a red/green version of the glasses I bought, I thought I'd search Google for "red green 3d picture" images, and see what those look like with my red/blue glasses.

Turns out that the effect I get seems very similar to the effect I get in Elite Dangerous, so I'm guessing that Elite Dangerous' Analgyph 3D mode is designed for the more obscure red/green glasses. I wish they'd at least clearly indicate this in the GUI. :-(

Time to buy some more 3D specs...

It would be great if we were able to specify which exact colors (#RRGGBB) get used for the red and blue colors Elite uses to render the anaglyph image. Then it would be possible to exactly tune the colors to your specific red/blue glass, so that the above doesn't happen.

Also, an option to separately adapt the brightness of the red and blue color would be useful. When I look through my red/blue glasses, the red image is much darker than the blue one.
