Can't Gain Reputation

So I finally made it to Ethgreze, spent 6 hours today doing alliance missions to only go DOWN in rep, i'm now unfriendly?! What gives?
Also, Been doing missions for the Labor of Ethgreze as they are at 99% and the same as Ailoth independents in terms of views, I've done many 1% influence and rep missions (30+) and it's still 99%?? AND IM UNFRIENDLY? WAT

Best rep gain in the game is trading. Find two Alliance systems you can trade with and buy low / sell high. Make sure the station you're selling/buying from is an Alliance station, not an independent.

Sounds like that might have been your mistake by the way. Not all missions in a station will be Alliance, they might be independents. in the right panel, it lists all factions for the system, and the main 3 factions will display their logo next to their affiliates.

They where all for the same alliance faction, Labor of ethgreze. They're still at 99% influence too.

Have you received any fines? Doing any illegal activity (and getting scanned) can get you popped with fines and that is one of the quickest ways to lose rep with a faction.

I've never had missions make me lose rep, I just gain it for someone else (is why I am not unfriendly or hostile with Empire or Feds.) Generally this would come from attacking ships, or gaining fines for things like carrying stolen goods. Been doing "smuggling stuff in" to the stations at all?

Ethgreze is exactly where I gained my Allied status with the Alliance, and had no trouble, but I never did any smuggle stuff in missions, just regular carry stuff and messages, the odd donate stuff, and shoot up wanteds at the nav point.

Now trying to do ALL missions at my home station.
SILLY ME. I accepted one to Lubbock station. >100,000 ls away from the star. WON'T be doing that again!!!!!

STILL 4 MINUTES OUT!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE ADD AN IN SYSTEM JUMP AT THE HIGH COST OF FUEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: 400,000ls away from main star..............

Yes, i've had a few 400 fines for trespassing in alliance bases, been scanned once with illegal goods, 2700 cr fine. I paid both off immediately. I've killed a few of the 1-10% influence alliance, wanted by the feds, i've killed ALOT of fed police and fed faction NPC's in alliance territory

Only been in trouble once in alliance territory. 1 smuggle run went too slow, couldn't sneak into an entrance.

It is crazy easy to lose rep in this game....especially with how hard it is to gain rep with a faction. So at least you now know that those fines are what set you up for your downward slide. It also doesn't help when you attack and kill someone when they don't have a "wanted" status, regardless of what their faction is.

I did a few cargo runs in my viper between two systems who were unfriendly, stopping off to kill pirates on the way in both directions. Although they still regard me as Unfriendly, I noticed after 2 or 3 runs I got the option to run some reputation gain missions, so don't be too disheartened!

Update: weirdly, although the mission end stats now show the faction as Neutral again, the panel info still says they are Unfriendly

The rank shown after the mission was completed, is the one your moving towards.

The rank in the panel info states your current rank.

For me it is allied working towards and friendly in the panel.
