Actually I have a question that has troubled me for years whilst watching US television, how do you get Bouy to sound like Boo wee?

It comes to something where idioms in current usage are older than your nation. While we're at this perhaps you could explain the saying: "I could care less" when the context clearly indicates the opposite being true. Is it sarcasm? I could respect that.

It originated in the UK, and went out of style, basically. Considering the colonists were primarily English, it makes sense that they'd retain that original pronunciation, and then never move on to newer pronunciations as a result of the cultural and geographical divide between the two nations.

Yeah, "could care less" is a figure of speech. Many highly uneducated people use it all the time because they are stupid and don't know any better. ;D
