Actually I have a question that has troubled me for years whilst watching US television, how do you get Bouy to sound like Boo wee?
It's 'buoy', and we do it the same way you manage to get 'Worcester' to come out 'wooster'.
[h=2]hang in the balance[/h]Be in a precarious condition or in a state of suspense. For example, The doctor said her life was hanging in the balance. This expression alludes to the suspended balance scale where an object is placed in one pan and weights are added one by one to the other pan until the two are balanced. [First half of 1400s]
Can someone who is British please translate this little bit in the newsletter to American, please? "Although support for the Durius government has risen slightly since Patreus' intervention, the outcome is still very much in the balance.."
What does, "still very much In the balance" mean? How is anyone who's not British supposed to understand this? ;D
It should be obvious that the rest of the world is not going to be privy to your ancient and weird sayings/customs.
I mean, it's nonsense... am I right? ;D
P.S. censorship bores me. Guess I'll be posting on reddit where I can cuss like an adult. ;P

Lol, not everyone in america is a wannabe thug or a member of black inner city culture, lmao..

It comes to something where idioms in current usage are older than your nation. While we're at this perhaps you could explain the saying: "I could care less" when the context clearly indicates the opposite being true. Is it sarcasm? I could respect that.
“Quantum Criticality” involves a completely new class of transformation in material properties. A quantum critical point (QCP) occurs when the phase transition temperature of a material is suppressed to absolute zero. The concept of quantum criticality was introduced to physics in 1970s by John Hertz, but was thought to be of purely academic interest. Today the phenomenon of quantum phase transitions has emerged as a major challenge to our understanding of condensed matter. Recent experiments have revealed the ability of quantum phase transitions to qualitatively transform the electronic properties of a material at finite temperatures. For example, high temperature superconductivity is thought to be born from a new metallic state that develops at a certain critical doping in copper-perovskite materials. A material that is tuned to a quantum critical point enters a weird state of "quantum criticality". Every site in a material at quantum criticality develops a quantum superposition of order and disorder in just the same way that Schrodinger's hypothetical cat is in a quantum superposition of "dead" and "alive". For this reason, quantum fluctuations of the underlying order parameter develop over infinite regions of both space and time inside the crystal. It is these mysterious fluctuations that physicists do not yet understand, but which are thought to be responsible for the profound transformations in material property that have been found to develop near a quantum phase transition.
My skepticism hit the roof once I read "..translate into American.." and then promptly got my popcorn ready. Bravo, OP.
