[VIDEO] <<< Bounty Hunting using Voice Attack >>>

Greetings Commanders.

I haven't posted a video for ages but with all the new pilots getting to grips with Elite Dangerous and Voice Attack as well. I though it would be timely to put a vid out there for all the newbes!

This is a response to a comment someone put on one of my old videos asking if my voice stayed calm under combat conditions. I think it depends on the ship I'm going up against. All I'll say is that it certainly goes up a few octaves when I'm facing an Anaconda!

Happy Hunting Commanders!

Enjoy :)

Hey great stuff. Like i eluded a while back, perhaps even before you posted this, I did use to use Voice Attack, but simply got frustrated changing macros with differing modules being added. That said it's not like they were hard to change, simply me being lazy, but mainly I found it irratating to get the commands to work as a guarantee. Just at the wrong moment I may have to say a command more than once to get it to work, which became very frustrating, so in the end ditched it for a simple trusty POV.

However, I've been considering firing VA up again to get the most out of the game, of course, but particularly now I haven't the need to change any macros because my ship is fully upgraded and decided on a ship loadout outfiiting that is unlikely to change (despite me admitting it not really being an issue other than just my bone idleness, is that a word?).

So for starters... could you advise on the best way in getting windows to recognise my commands more accurately? Presumably the longer you teach window's speech recog APi the better it becomes yes, but I see/hear your commands are more than one word. Is this on purpose for that reason, or is it simply to have more available commands that are 1) memorable, or mainly 2) it works better for windows to understand you?

Watching you there was brill quite frankly, now I've seen it used properly, I clearly wasn't using it correctly myself when I did a while back, but like I say, plan to break VA out again.

A bit cheeky, but perhaps you could give me a list of all your commands that you have found works best, or at the very least what you say as your primary most used ones, as clearly you must have quite a few more than what you demonstrated here. Your last one "Peace" was taking it a step further for sure, to add functions that wasn't just power distribution related, I can imagine there are quite a few macros that one could implement, so thought perhaps you'd share your secrets to get me started?

Great piloting mate, and with your use of VA, really hints at what's possible, because quite frankly, I wasn't doing it justice when I did use it.

Thanks, but I just can't see any benefit in using VoiceAttack. I understand that it may be useful for people actually lacking a few buttons and using voice commands for things that do not need to be executed quickly like opening the cargo hatch or deploying landing gear. For combat situations it is just much too slow and not precise enough.

The way you used it is nice but it's all for comfortability only. Benefit or any real advantage? Unfortunately not.
It's fun and immersive nonetheless, for those who like it.

Is that you Buckstarz? ;). I did use to use it and did find exactly that problem, it wasn't as quick for power distribution, but that said, what's surely possible with complicated macros, like Spigg's "Peace" one at the end as an example of what is possible, this is far quicker than you could ever accomplish doing it manually. Like I say, I did use to use VA a while back, but posted a question to Spiggs here, to see what he's learnt since, not necessarily for power distribution, nothing wrong with my xbox pad's d-pad, (was hard using the x55 joystick's POV for PD when trying to yaw), but I plan to at least have another go with using VA.

Don't forget you can assign macros to the buttons on your controller, joystick, throttle as well, which would do the same but doesn't require the 1 - 2 seconds for the voice command to be spoken and processed.

I had thought of that too yeah (Batman), can do it in the H.U.D software that came with my x55, unless you're refering to another way I can't think of off the top of my head?
