Do not sell your previous ships

I've given up pointing this out to people ; it just seems the internet has bred a load of crap Grammaaaa/Spelllooorrrsss LOL
I gave up years ago pointing out they're, their, there and it's, its etc. etc. <AND ect!>
But Lose / Loose is a new one on me and I just thought I'd comment on it.
I will now decease and consign it to just another of those word combinations that dumb people get wrong. <sigh>
The only thing that makes me laugh is apologists like Jockey, who know the word is wrong, but at the people who point it out.

Let's be charitable, a lot of the players here are struggling with a language that is not their native tongue

and unless you're considering suicide, may I suggest the word you are searching for is 'desist' and not 'decease' ? ;)

How is it pretentious to ask that people use the correct word to describe their meaning? I think you should look at that definition of pretentious again, Jockey. Or should I just start using words that look similiar and sound similar to describe words that have completely different meanings. I think the word you're looking for is LAZY.

K K,
Have you realized that a high percentage of people in the forum has english as second language...? And can easily get wrong with this kind of words?
Being kind in the correction is a nice upside.
Regards

If you have all these ships were do you get your credits from?

1. Sidwinder cost 32,457 credits each.
2. Eagle cost 44,543 credits each.
3. Clipper is around 37+ million
4. Type-7 cost between 7-8 million

Could you tell the rest of us how you can afford all these ships please!!

After all the game has only been released for 2 weeks.

Honestly, hull costs are trivial compared to what you put in them with respect to fittings.

Example: I have an A-2 fuel scoop for my Cobra -- over 286k for that one fitting. That's more than a Sidewinder, Eagle and Adder combined.

I won't even go into more expensive pieces to much and that rule of thumb seems to stay consistent through the bulk of the smaller ships.

My current fit cobra isn't "fantastic" about 2.4 million out on fittings; for a hull that's worth under 390k and I've a long way to go still before I'll be satisfied with where I want it (exploration style fit - 1.5 mill for a system scanner, 250k for a surface scanner.... little things like that).

For a start, I didn't apologise for anyone, I only pointed out your pretentious attitude.

If you wish to educate anyone, I'd suggest you start with yourself, as English is not the only language on this planet - something you should consider before jumping on your grammar horse and charging off in to the sunset. English is only 3rd on the list of major languages so it would be a fair assumption the person making the mistake does not have English as their first language, heck it may be their 3rd.

Also, people with reading and writing based learning difficulties also use the internet as well not just you. Did you stop to think the person may have confused the wording / spelling due to not being able to fully grasp it? Nice way to deflate someone and put them off even trying again, it may have taken the person ages to type out that post just to see their hard work berated and belittled by you.

Here is another word for you;

arrogant

unpleasantly proud and behaving as if you are more importantthan, or know more than, other people:

Keep your previous ships and store them. Do not sell any ships ever.

Then you will be much safer from the I lost everything due to bugs/mistakes issues.

Completely agree! It may make the road to buckzilla a bit longer, but it is a great backup plan, and more important, offers variety in gameplay.

Getting really annoyed about this because I've seen it in so many threads now... LOOSE is not the same as LOSE:

*snip*

Jeez you defiantly need to get out more: there's no need to loose it. It's just words, surely we can be in agreeance about that?

Not quite clear on the advantage of having capital tied up in ships scattered all over the place, as opposed to the equivalent value in cash credits available wherever I am?

Think of it as a savings account you can't "accidentally" blow on upgrades or cargo.....

+ For many of us english is the second, third or fourth language.

And there are a myriad of other reasons why people make mistakes, like dyslexia or being tired, or just being old, very old.
I think trying to correct others on forums is not of much use, unless it is on a forum about spelling :), and there also would be no end to it.

Indeed, and I think this method won't work for everyone. It has a big psychological effect on me, for instance. The main game vehicle to anything are ships (some may say they are the main goal, if any), so it makes sense to keep those you already bought. At least the ones you like. Then, if I'm not mistaken, the ship value itself regress once it has been bought. So selling it will never be a neutral operation. And let's not forget the gameplay itself. If you're bored with your current tasks, you could jump back into a ship built for another purpose.

And if you -foolishly- took a risk with your insurance with your Type7 and (as it always happen) crashed into the closest wall or get destroyed by CMDR Puny and His Mighty Pew Pew stock Sidey, you'd probably be happy to jump back into that rusty, smelly, familiar and fully pimped Type 6 to trade your way back to the top.

I've only been playing a week and I'm already in a fully upgraded type 6 with 3 million in the bank without an excessive amount of hours played. If you are diligent in your exploration, it's not hard to eventually identify profitable trade routes.

It's also worth pointing out that as long as a stored ship is pimped, it can always be cashed in for a trade ship, so you can store "something for the weekend". My Viper is worth ~2.5m, if I ever perform financial hari-kari, that will get me a nice Type 6 and a decent trading kitty to start again...

Tying up cash in a bunch of ships is just bad business. As long as one always got enough to pay the insurance, all is fine.

Not that I've gotten very far in the game yet, I change it up between two ships. Got a Type 6 for trading runs. That will be changed out for a Type 7 eventually. I also got a pretty well kitted out Cobra mk III for when I go looking for trouble. That one is a keeper, and in time it'll get all the best equiptment credits can buy - so far only the Powerplant is A grade, most other important systems are B rated.

Might even buy me a Viper for pure action eventually. But not until I got enough millions that getting one and kitting it out to top-spec won't hardly make a dent in my cash-stash. First I need a trader so big that I can scoop up entire markets and proceed to haul it to another system :D
