Tis the season to be jolly, a time for giving and all that. However, my efforts seem to be being thrown back in my face. If a starport that I happen to be visiting needs food and I have what they need on board then I will happily donate thinking that this will improve my local rep and net me some good missions,.. This doesn't appear to be the case as being charitable seems to have a more negative effect than a possitive one. Civil unrest seems to go through the roof. I was recently at Branglal and asked to donate 40,000 CR to Hernandez relay in LHS 1933, seeing as I had just made my first "proper alpha million" I thought what the hey,.. Why not! Donated it and now everyone dislikes me!

From now on I'll keep my credits, save up to buy the wife the holiday on Lave she has always dreamed of and all of the starving children in Delphin can eat each other as far as I am concerned! :eek:

its meant to affec the background economic and political simulator. As an experiement pick a quite fringe system where no one else is, start running missions and trading their exports out and imports in. Give it a week or so, youll notice more npc traders and if you have enough impact youll see the balance of power of various factions changes, missions change, its not fuly implemented yet but it is working in a way

My comment went poof, basically youre assisting the background simulator, the thing asking for donations will get a small local faction economic boost. The background simulator is someone broken but working,. U can pick a small faction and with enough support u can get them to take over multiple solar systems or expand their empire

It all depends on which faction in the current system you are donating to! There are multiple factions in each system, you can check them in the right had UI, obviously if you donate to one the others will become unhappy. If you donate to one that is not the controlling faction then you will lose rep in that system.

No, it doesn't merely depend on that. You can donate to a specific faction, and said specific faction will give you negative reputation for it. It's wonky. I donated to the controlling faction, and lost reputation with that faction. Once, mind you - most times it works as intended. But not always.
