Rolling back will make too many unsatisfied customers

Rolling back would just give them too many unsatisfied customers, I don't think they want really want this.

How much potential this game has, if people start to youtube these problems, where people waist days trading then their money get taken off. That's not going to go well!

they cant even do it. most of them are on holiday till next week.
even if they wont they could do the reset next week. and that wont happen

That's fine, no one from FD said there'd be a rollback, just one member created a thread and suggested the mere possibility of one happening. He even (apprently jokingly) said it should happen because it affected a large % of players.

It's all talk, we have to wait and see what is done.

People blatantly exploiting left and right on the one hand, and other people losing millions upon millions because of transaction errors won't exactly satisfy customers either, I think.

I'm sure it will get sorted one way or another. Too much panic on the forum. Relax and have a cuppa tea. We all know it's buggy as can be.

there dont have to panic.
people who lost credits make a ticket you will get it back.
peple who used buges or server issue may loose their money may not. who cares.
and rollback wont come. so where is the problem

Agreed. The disappearing cargo was easily fixed by exiting the terminal and re-entering. Obviously a instance issue. Same thing as when you don't see folks in your group in the same instance. Go into SC, drop back out, and MAGIC - there they are. All these folks need to do is exit the station - then re-request docking, land, and MAGIC - there is the cargo to sell. Folks calling for a roll back are ________. Well I will let everyone fill in that blank. Do you really cheat folks out of legitimate earnings for the ones not smart enough to figure it out for themselves? NO SERVER ROLL BACK!

Uh, yeah, wasn't that simple AT ALL. I traveled between systems a couple times and my cargo was just loopy as hell. I had 496 of one thing, sold those, went to buy something to refill my cargo and noticed I already had them, what? So said ok, traveled to my sell location to sell those, sold them, noticed I already had the stuff I would buy to sell on my return trip... Ok. Logged out, because it was clearly broken.

Technically I had a cargo full of 496 of two commodities.

In the long term a rollback of a couple days won't matter, but even so I don't see it happening lightly. If a large number of players are impacted by corrupted saves and this is a significant percentage of accounts AND too high for these players to expect a fast turnaround on individual fixes then I can see FD considering it. They would set the bar at least that high though, as we saw in Gamma when they individually fixed a huge bunch of peoples accounts that were affected by a single bug individually. If the benefit to the playerbase as a whole outweighs the inconvenience, or they simply had no other way to fix what's broke - that's when they'd do it but it would be a last resort I think.

I suspect that this particular issue might rise to that magnitude but probably doesn't

Obviously those that earned dozens of millions on the cargo hold glitch will cry against rollback.
Those that lost millions on disappearing upgrades will want a fix.

Personally I don't think Frontier will ever make a rollback.

Yeah, poor Ashley will spend countless hours fixing accounts one by one. I feel sad for her and it will also can take a day or two for some people.

Yeah, she fixed my cargo hold last time it got bugged.

Bet that's a fun, unrewarding job :(

I made about a million today and finally have enough to buy an asp with some upgrades, insurance and cargo. A rollback will definitely upset me. I've gotten the occasional disconnect but no bugs so I'm unaffected.

Please do a search and link that thread for us? :)

Walt, I was one of the folks suggested in a couple of places that it might rise to that level because of the volume of users that seem to be impacted. The poster you replied to is perfectly correct there has been no hint from FD that a rollback is likely, it just seemed that it was wisest to be cautious and play somewhere else tonight in case it rose to a level where that might be needed.

Aside from everything else, the more of us find other entertainment tonight the less likely it is that the problem and its impact will get that extreme. As a long-time sysadmin and occasional DBA this certainly looks like it would be an "Oh <scatological expletive>" moment for me... I know FD will prefer to fix accounts individually though and wont do anything broader lightly.
