Many more keybinds needed

Speaking for myself, I would really like just a couple of things to make ED perfect for me.....

1, An expansion of the current number of keybinds for major functions like docking request, turning on and off orbit lines etc.

2, linked to the above, the ability to select HOLD on most keybinds as well as toggle for those of us that have real switches on our sticks. i.e. I would like to flick a switch and lower the landing gear, flick it off to raise rather than have to use a button or momentary.

3, The ability to save and load controller profiles. It's a real pain having to reconfigure my HOTAS every time I plug in a new USB peripheral.

Add 'system view' to the list please.
HOTAS switches often send single key presses when operated in a new state, so ED would best have distinct key binds for different states as well: x for gear down, z for gear up, etc. Managing elongated key-presses (by experience) tends to lead to a lot of trouble with the current hard- and sw.

I use Voice Attack myself and things like this are already sorted for me. I simply say "Request Docking" and it will automatically request docking permission. Give it a go.. theres a 21 day trial I believe.

Already bought and paid for, just waiting for my new headset to arrive once they have extricated it from the CityLink Parcel fiasco, currently on it's way back to Norway from whence it will be sent out again with a different courier :)

I hanker after building a "pit" to be honest and I'd like to use real clunky switches too when I feel like. I also feel a bit of a D**K talking to the PC when anyone is around, especially the wife :)

This is actually possible. Once you've set up some custom bindings in-game, save them, exit the game, and then go to:

C:\Users\<whatevername>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings\

You'll find them saved in a file named "Custom.binds"

If you make a copy of that file and name it (for example) "Blairvoyach.binds" and keep it in the same directory, when you load up the game again and go into the controls options, it will show up in the 'presets' pulldown menu as 'Blairvoyach'. Keep a backup copy of this file somewhere else just in case, or to make life simpler if you ever have to change computers. If you change anything, it will save your changes into "Custom.binds", which you can copy to another differently named file to create another preset if you so choose, say if you have a friend/family member playing or have a different set of control peripherals, etc.

I have had this give me trouble once though when the one patch added the 'UI Back' keybind, and the game didn't like my backup .binds file from a previous patch version because it was missing that one binding, so I had to rebind everything again.

I want to be able to bind on/off for my subsystems to say my function buttons. Seriously. Being able to easily and quickly turn on and off subsystems should be made possible.

Funny, I HAD been saving my custom.binds but instead of doing what you suggest, I just copied it back in over the one the game created......not surprisingly didn't work :)

Many thanks for this, it's a perfect workaround until they get around to doing it in game.
