I must admit I just tend to scan the planets, but am I missing at rick here in terms of data value?
It's worth it if you want to be completionist for it's own sake. It's not worth it financially

Thanks. This is a little sad, since the asteroid belts are one of the most easily-exploited parts of a system for mining, so in-game information about their composition should be worth quite a bit.
Is it worth scanning steroid belts?
No, unfortunatly it is not worth it at all. You get zero credits for scanning them but for myself, I scan them all anyways. The completionist in me compels me to do so lol.
I scan them too, but I thought you got 200cr per scanned asteroid site? Is that wrong?
Only if you're entering in referee-judged power sport.
would have thought the information of what elements / minerals are in the belts would be quite valuable to some.one. Shame.
I was thinking the same thing.
As for asteroid belts, I've never really payed attention to what pays what for exploration as it's not my main source of income but I've just been leaving them alone because you have to get so close to them and personally I think it's a pita to scan every one of them. Seeing how they aren't worth anything, I guess I was making the right call.![]()
