Disappearing Landing Pads Are A Real Problem!

OK, this is becoming a real issue for me.

This started out as just a hindrance but is now a real problem. I was almost destroyed last night because my landing pad disappeared and my timer ran out while I circled the station looking for my pad to reappear. My new asp was 2 seconds from being destroyed before I was finally forced to exit the station and cancel the landing.

Please fix this!

Agreed this is annoying and hopefully fixed soon. Remember the target compass also points towards your pad if the lights do go out.

It's annoying yes it needs fixing.

But you can often see which pad it is as, although the yellow highlights are missing, the pad base itself is still lit by white light.

Also don't wait till the last second, this is an issue sure, but not one that should be killing you.

Once in the doorway, fly straight down the middle of the station. Rotate so that the blue dot is towards the bottom. Wait until the blue dot is right at the bottom and then stop. If the blue dot goes hollow go backwards ever so slightly. Then go straight down. Tidy up at the bottom as needed. Voila - landing without needing to see the missing marker. And who knows - maybe One day being able to do a full instrument landing will be useful if your ship is billowing out smoke etc.

I imagine this is the #1 bug to fix on FD's list right now, and I also imagine there will be a patch some time next week that will get rid of it.

On today's Galactic News Day, we cover the recall of over 50 million micro boards built by Omnicorp that are failing to keep the landing pad guidance systems running. Many pilots have reported excessive fines and damage to their ships because of the loss of guidance to their pads.
"I needs me a clearly demarcated landing pad cause not all us truckers are drivin straight, if ya know what I mean.." stated Jimmy jo bob from Intergalatic shipping.
Galactic News Day is awaiting response from Omnicorp on this situation, stay tuned.

This bug has caused a number of dicey situations for me. It's really starting to drive me nuts

I also have a ticket open with FD. No response yet.

Suggestion- Inside the rotating stations YOUR landing pad should be colour coded pulsating green visible only to you so it stands out easier

I thought this was intentional, and just another challenge in the kill happy stations. Would be nice to see it fixed though.

The bug re. pads that I've encountered the most is "dead pads" (if it is a bug and simply something I'm still not understanding correctly).

Basically it's when you don't get the change of HUD to landing HUD, so you can't properly land. The workaround is to exit station, cancel docking request, make another docking request, and it seems to work fine after that.

What's funny is, when you enter a big station with like 5 landing pad indicators on, it's only always your indicator that turns off, never the others. :D

Also often retracting and deploying the landing gear makes it turn on for 1-2 seconds and turn off again.

You have 3 different indicators to reference to find your landing pad. The in your face landing box and number, the Nav Ball and the landing pads flood lights. It's not that hard people, this is brought up nearly every day. Learn to search before posting and let go of mommies hand already.

Excellent post. Nice tip! :)
