FSD Interdictors - what size do I need?

I have multiple size slots available on my cobra. I fitted a base E1 Interdictors and had no issues stopping an NPC. What would a size 2 or 3 give me? Faster interdiction time? Longer interdiction distances? Ability to pull larger ships out of SC? I have no idea. Anyone?

General rule of thumb is bigger class = best range.

If you are wanting to preserve your internal compartments for cargo or other utilities then use an A rated unit in a smaller compartment.

Example, a C5 fuel scoop is better then an A4 fuel scoop despite the lower rating. Class takes priority over rating.

However there is a tradeoff in using the larger class compartment.

I often use expensive A rated components in small slots instead of using cheaper low rated components in bigger slots that cause me to lose cargo space.

Thanks - I wonder whether there are other, specific benefits to a higher class interdictor. I interdicted a wanted Orca yesterday with my E1 and sustained 6% hull damage as I exited SC - wondered if it might have been less with a bigger FSD interdictor, for example.

I think it is easier to interdict with higher class (fast minigame) at close range. I don't fire my interdictor as soon as I can but hold it until I get close.
