Frontier Responds to recent DB issues

Well I'm still not even able to play, has been crashing since this issue started

Submit a support ticket?

Ive submitted 2, the first was closed without response and the second has been 6 days now, no response

I hope they won't just ignore it because they think the problem is fixed

same here, crashes whatever mode i try. I did get a response to my ticket though, basically " really sorry, can't do anything until the 5th"

So let me see...So people expect that Frontier people, that are away on vacation, drop their time off so we can be placated. Especially after then spent years of their lives getting to this point, numerous sleepless nights, and so forth. Yeash...

Dear lord people, yes communication could have happened, but the fact is simple, no one was there and the people that were there did what was needed and was not a spokesperson. So may be a little human understanding is needed instead of the righteous indignation and recrimination. We are all flawed beings...this flaw was found and they are going to put a fix in place.

Funnily enough it's what I do for a living.

Funnily enough, me too - senior technical test analyst. I test HA OLTP and OLAP applications for investment banks.

And as I've said repeatedly, and what I'm saying above is it's not about the bugs.

Bugs happen and you *absolutely cannot prevent that*, what's important is how you deal with it.

Pretending they handled it well and giving them a pat on the back really helps no-one, not me not you and certainly not Frontier.

Uh huh... so detecting, analysing, fixing, testing, and deploying fixes to a live production environment with no system-wide outages in 2 hours flat in the wee hours of a major public holiday is how a shower of clowns and slackers act? And you think that because... you didn't get a hand-written, tear-stained letter of apology and regret over your traumatic ordeal and signed by DB and the devs?

Okay. Right. Yeah...

Sorry but lol, just lol. Ignoring the "fixing anything that comes around" part...

It's taken almost 2 days to get a response and it looks like that was only prompted by bad press and/or a lot of unhappy people on the forum.

It's also looking like :

"relatively small number of commanders were affected by failed transactions and small losses in credits. These commanders should have received their refunds, along with a 20% bonus as in previous instances."

It's also not right, since it's not resolved the stuck cargo bug, which anecdotally seems to be the main issue people have been having. Nor has anything been mentioned about CMDRs glitching their way to a fortune, whether intentionally or accidentally.

It is the Holiday season and everyone is allowed a little break over the xmas break, think about how long they have been working on this game and how much time away from family there must of been.

So you had to wait 2 whole days for a response, at least they are sorting the problems out unlike bigger MMO companies that are only after your monies *cough*gameforge*cough*

Sorry for those with ongoing issues but I went on open this morning for my fix instead of my regular private group and it was rock steady. All I would say is that I tend to see more players in Möbius than I did in open ?

Come on guys its not all that bad, be happy at least some players could exploit billions of credits out from this bug without any serious effort, at least think about them when you can't log in or lost your hard earned millions, its not all that bad!

Well after this server bug I have seen allot of people that are in new ships from abusing a bug that was going on. One of them now owns a Anaconda with full upgrades, a Python with full upgrades, A Type 9 with full upgrades, and oh ya over 30 billion in his bank. He is playing in Open play with all this also, I know he has all of this and does this because the genius streams it. He openly talks about his abuse and exploiting of the servers being messed up. I know we can name and shame on here, but one thing I can say he is German. I have seen two other streamers that went from just over 1 million in the bank to the next day having a Python and it being upgraded. They now play open because they have such a great ship...

And, with no challenge left, they'll probably be bored with E:D by tomorrow. They're bragging now, but they'll be sad soon.

Ha, you've changed your tune now! Your last post was saying I have no concept of bugfixing complex software, when I'd said nothing about an ability/inability to fix their server software.

Now you've switched to a bunch of hyperbole about me asking for a tear-stained hand-written apology! Sorry but what on Earth are you on about?

If there was an issue with a system affecting at least a few hundred of your customers, can I ask what the repercussions would be if you'd made no attempt to inform them of what was going on?

And that if you were questioned on your lack of communication would you start ranting on about how they know *nothing about bugfixing!* and asking them if they're expecting you to get on your knees or something!

Which investment bank is it btw? =p

No...please tell me who they are...will be fun to hunt them down when their credit balance gets restored back to normal and they suddenly can't afford to pay for the insurance of the ship they are now riding around in (if the get to keep it). Shooting them down then will be hilarious...back to square one! :D

Of course you are. You're a citizen of the Internet, that magical land where you can't walk two steps without tripping over a polymath Adonis.

*shrugs* ok.

Lot's of people work in software development you know it's not some magical ultra-rare career path. I wouldn't be surprised if it's actually reasonably common among ED's demographic.

Apples and oranges. You are criticising people making a game. It's all imaginary money and made up stuff. They responded as rapidly as required. If I was them, I would be loath to respond at all to a chorus of shrill morons screeching about lack of communication like overly attached girlfriends. Be thankful for small mercies.

I didn't say it was rare, and I expect that there are that many of them around here that using it as an appeal to authority like you did just looks pompous. I was taking the michael. Anyway...

...I wouldn't employ you as a software developer, lack of attention to detail.
