To Asp or not to Asp

Stay in the Type 6,
From a pure trading perspective, there's barely any cargo space differential between the trader and the asp. The asp is much more expensive to equip, has a much higher rebuy cost. It can make longer jumps, but you're clearly managing just fine in the type 6.
Then there's the fact that if you're using it as a ship you plan to sell when you get the type 7, you'll take a minimum 660,000 loss when you sell the asp. Which means more trading and time before you get the 7

Purely for trading: Stay in the type and save the money for the Type 7. Only exception would be if you have found a few trade routes in the 25+ lightyear region, in which case you might be able to do it in one jump with the Asp.
Aside from that the Asp has the clearly better engine sound so if you enjoy that kind of detail and don't see trading as a mere grind you might want to try out the Asp for that reason alone.

have you looked at this thread with the ship specs in? i bought the Asp as i prefer it in general and run it without shields and have 128 tonne capacity, the Asp has a better turning ability and stronger armor/hull/shields (if using shields which im not).
I am very close to buying the Type 7 myself just making some monies for FSD and power plant etc and insurance and cargo monies. Already have enough with my part exchange to buy the ship and have a million left over
I went from L6 to L7 and bypassed the Asp. I had an Asp prior to release and wanted to try the 7... In retrospect I should have grabbed the Asp instead. The L7 is purely for trading in my opinion, just a grind machine.
I can't believe you even have to asp this question. Surely, any old asp knows that an asp is everyone's aspiration. Asp and you shall receive. Asp not what your asp can do for you...

That's cool that you are enjoying your cobra and adder, this question is for the people that are just grinding the trade routes on the way to the big ships such as the python and anaconda, I have a viper for when I want to mess about as the re-buy cost is tiny in comparison.

my rebuy on my partly upgraded Asp is no where near that?
For a fully cargod Asp for trading the rebuy is 209,000 (roughly)
