Newcomer / Intro Which is best Trading Tool

Hi

I have just built up about 3 million credits by Bounty Hunting, but thought I would give trading a go for a change, I don't want to get rid of my Cobra so have increased its cargo capacity to 40t to see how things go. I notice there are a few Trading Tools out there and was wondering which one the community thinks is considered the best i.e. where to trade from/to and which commodity will give me the best profit.

If you actually want to put in the work yourself rather than taking advantage of others, then Cmdrs Log is the best.

Custom made spreadsheets all the way! :) Once you get how to use the Galaxy Map to find the "hot spots", a spreadsheet to keep track is all you need really.

http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/ <- I use Thrudds Elite Trading tool, has a lot of useful features. Covers both the functions you mention above and many more besides, like nearest stockist to your current location of a commodity, nearest black market etc.

This really only needs a "view station" option to be perfect. I don't want my routes planned for me, but I also don't want to show up at an extraction planet that inexplicably does not have a demand for mineral extractors.

- I have used custom made spreadsheets (in alpha/beta) but not anymore, since informations change fast and there are bugs regarding comodities.
- Moved to elite trading tool (thanks willowfan) that does a decent job and now I use it as backup.
- Installed Slopey BPC utility and I simply love it. It gives me in 99.9% accurate information and I recomend it. Get it from here:https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=76081

Found routes that on 96 T cargo bring me max profit of 124.000 and minimum 70.000 (in 2 trips).

I really like the Thrudd trading tool.
Only issue I have is that it works fine on my PC but on my mobile or tablet the first screen "trade calculator" takes ages or sometimes hangs when trying to enter a location - the other screens are fine.
Do you guys run these tools on a separate tablet etc? I can't see a way to access them from the PC when playing as you can't sideload into the game

Would you feel as proud of your 3M in bounties, if all you had done was click one button and instantly kill every target in front of you? Of course not. It took effort, skill, and dedication to earn that much, and it's a respectable amount of reward.

Seriously, take this advice: Don't use tools that tell you where to go, what to buy, and the most profitable routes to trade. Find this on your own. Don't ruin the game for yourself by letting everyone else play for you and then just clicking your way to profits.

Well some of use lack the motivation and intelligence to figure these things out for ourselves. We need someone to do it for us. ;)

..and you will find the trade washed out when you get there, as others will have done the same.

Find your own secret trade routes and protect them if need be.

I'm a fan of Thrudd's elitetradingtool based on the social collaboration aspect.

There's no data in there that wasn't entered manually.
This is good old pen and paper upgraded for the multiplayer scenario we now have.

I generally use a pen and paper but that is just me. I have found that some user updated tools can be skewed to make a false positive on trades wasting time and credits.

You can use them as a general guide but always double check your rates at each station.

keep the cobra and buy a type 6 as well. you can have as many ships as you want

look into rare trading, the cobra can pull some good money in with that when you're checking it out, then the T6 can be filled up on some of the bigger circuits.
