Boring un-involved grinding gameplay

Watched the trailer and my hair stood on end. GREAT trailer. Especially loved the bit where the fighters were in close with the larger ships. It was like a Star Wars battle scene! SWEET!

So then I bought the game. What a disappointment.

I feel as though I was lied to .
I've tried bounty hunting, trading, missions (if you can call it that) but it all boils down to tedium and repetition.
I can't even walk around my ship like they show in the trailer. Seriously, how hard could that be to implement!
I'll keep trying every now and again to see if it gets more exciting and engaging.
Wish me luck!

You made a purchase decision based on a single trailer? And a cinematic one at that?

You're not getting any sympathy from me.

You lost it at "I can't even walk around my ship like they show in the trailer. Seriously, how hard could that be to implement!".

You signed up to the forums today. My bet is you watched the trailer today and have spent all of 5 minutes in the game.

Sorry you are initially put off by the game. The trailer can be misleading. Hope you stick it out because the game is great once you get the hang of it.

Game is in its infancy show me any other massive multiplayer game or game like this that had all the features and content at launch?

To be fair, basing a purchasing decision on a single trailer is not very smart. Pretty much all game trailers use "cinematic" footage that is un-representative of the game, just look at clash of clans, candy crush saga, AC, any driving game, the last CoD trailers.
.
Then posting on the forum using trollish words like "swindling" and "lied" to just confirms that the OP's decision making skills are sub-optimal.
.
There's a debate to be had about cinematic trailers in general and the ED cinematic trailer, but this isn't it.

This is the cinematic trailer for Angry Birds...

You may also want to look at cinematic trailers for almost any game. They usually bear no resemblance to the actual game. And to give FD credit, there was the text at the bottom of the screen that said "Not actual in-game footage" or whatever it is.

If you are going to be an angry bird about this, then you best be angry about a vast majority of gaming companies and their trailers.

He also made a similar thread in the lynx forums when it became apparent angels did not fall from the sky for a sniff of his pit.

I don't see anything wrong with his post. I feel that way about a lot of games. I usually leave and come back if they add new things. Most games don't though and they end up being forgotten. I haven't even bought this game yet, just watched a lot of videos. So far I'll be waiting on buying it. I recently quit Star Trek Online and Warframe because of the horrible updates in both, and I want a game with space combat, but I want ground missions too and character customization. Hopefully they get around to that in this game. Right now I'm not sure I'd invest.

The cinematic trailer is terrible, still I'd never buy a game without watching youtubes and twitch streams and there were some other really good trailers.

Wait, let me get this straight. You bought this game solely based on watching one trailer? You did no research on the game at all. You're an advertisers wet-dream. No sympathy here.

Moral of the story: Do some research before you hit the buy button. Buying a game based on the cinematic trailer is dumb.

Well it can feel like star wars!
I just been bounty hunting for an hour in a viper at a nav beacon made over 200k in bounty's.
Had an epic battle with lots of feds vs an anaconda (first time I have killed one) boy was it fun :D
Does not cost much to get a kitted out viper (my new fav ship)
When the action heats up "WOW" so intense it actually drains you !!

No, you weren't "lied to". If you want that kind of cinematic action, pay attention to the GalNet news and head where the conflict is. Find a conflict zone, pick a side and start shooting.

Same people, with their baiting, 'it's your own fault the trailer is misleading, you should have done more research', replies that derail nearly ever thread of a similar flavor.

The trailer was a lie at best. Have you seen the "Newsletter" yet? it's just one ad after another to buy this, tell friends to buy that.

Sorry bro, like you said check back in a year or so if the game is still around.

I see there's a handful of threads like this, but since you've bought the game I guess your decision deserves its own unique thread (but with all the same answers afterwards).
