When tresspassing. Do what I do. Don't try to turn around. Just hit your thrusters in reverse and go back in a straight line. Once outside the letterbox, wait 10 seconds and you are cleared.

Been there - Done that...

Never thought about that, good idea, Rep'd

Have done it dozens of times, my mind goes into auto pilot except sometimes the auto pilot forgets to request docking, I suggest you learn to use the reverse thrust instead of turning the ship as it takes too long.

yeah I did this in my t6 last week, hit reverse and got out with 10 seconds to spare and the fine... unfortunitely there was a sidewinder or something behind me, and it wasn't so lucky. I saw the shields light up when I hit something, then heard the pop, and felt bad for about 15 seconds. then requested docking again, and landed with my goods. Thank god for the reverse button.

did this in my t6 too, had to wiggle the stick about a bit to keep going backwards as something had got in the way and not seen my reversing lights. i didn't hear any explosions so i guess they survived

pro tip, while boosting helps your lateral thrusters and turn rate, it does not help you reverse!

Why?

Pay the fine - move on - you have 24 hrs to pay it
because my young padawan, they will shoot at you when the 10s timer runs out. they also refuse to give docking clearance until you are outside and clear of the airlock. bloomin jobs worths!
