Target vs destination selection

Should there be a way to separate targets for weapons vs targets for destinations? For example, "targeting" a space station to see its orientation while still having turreted weapons deployed could get you in serious trouble! Maybe that part of the display and the targeting button could be toggleable between navigation and fire control?

Agree, though I've missed this feature mostly when flying in super cruise: it would be great if I could target nearby ships without loosing lock to my destination. Targeting the destination again from left side panel gets a bit annoying after a while.

I had an idea for the solution as part of this post, and agree they should be maintained completely separately.

Basically by default one fire group maps controls to navigation, but when you deploy it switches to target mode, with the compass showing destination or target depending on which fire group type is selected. It would also allow you to assign a scan button to a fire-group without changing the destination if desired.

The two would be maintained as completely distinct, displayed depending on fire-group type selected. It would also allow you to map different locations to different fire-groups in theory, though this might be more easily managed if desirable.

Good idea

Good idea, I hope something like that gets implemented soon.

Also it would be good if we could pay off trivial bounties while in space! It is such a pain having to run the gauntlet of docking without being noticed as 'wanted' with the risk of being blown to smithereens for the sake of a ridiculous 200 cr fine for grazing someones shield by accident! Even after switching my turreted lasers to forward only I still managed to clip someone after getting a 100k bounty for an anaconda. I docked carefully on a platform thinking this would be quicker and avoid being scanned. I was lucky!

They shouldn't be destroying you for minor infractions (anything less than a crime or large fine and you should maybe jest get told to pay the fine before leaving the first time and second time you enter, with arrest (impounding ship, selling for fine plus fees) so you have to buy a smaller ship with the remaining value for not clearing fine on the third time or something) or destruction if you haven't paid by the fourth docking attempt

Re: Target vs. Destination - Isn't this part of the game now? When I target a station and target a ship, I see two "Target" blips in my system list...
Re: Paying off Bounties in space - yes.. or at least allow you to find a copper and Comm them to pay off your bounty..
Re: Not attacking you for a 200Cr fine - yes. <1024 credits, they should give you the option to pay the fine then and there, or it gets doubled. When it hits 1k, the pounding starts..

Agree +1 to everything in this thread so far :)
