Someone claims to have reached ELITE status

The game hasn't been out a month, don't you think getting Elite this early devalues the rank?

Only if the majority of players start reaching it v. soon or have already reached it.
There will always be those who can dedicate more time than others and depending on how they decide to play, will reach higher ranks in less 'days/weeks' than others, but the hours they put in tell the real story.
On that note, I wonder why they removed the time-played stat which was in Beta.

Well done to him/her

Must have been a real slog to do it in such a short time.

The sceptic in me just thought that they'll check for automation before handing out any recognition.

He exploited his way to the rank. I'm not impressed.

If he'd made all those kills on his own, instead of letting the NPC's do it for him, I might have been. He cheated his way to the top, nothing to be proud of, much less salute him for.

This semi-confirms my theory that it's best to fight in a combat zone to rank up, due to enemy pilots usually being competent and up skill level wise.

170 kills an hour for 80ish hours.

That's 1 kill every 20 seconds for 80 hours. I think the guy's deluded if he thinks I'll believe that's legit.

if elite took a dedicated 16h/day grinder an entire year, it would be absolutely unobtainable for everyone else.

To put this in perspective, if it took an entire year, the guy would still be harmless, maybe mostly harmless. You'd be harmless with a thousand kills. Do you think that's appropriate progression?

Obviously progression would be much faster at the lower ranks, but otherwise yes I do.

I played another game (Planetside 2) that takes keen gamers on average well over a year to reach maximum rank (probably more like 18 months). The first guy to do it, who was an exceptional player, took about 400 hours of actual in-game playtime, and most people take far longer than that. As a result, reaching the maximum rank is acknowledged as a genuine achievement by pretty much everyone. When top rank players turn up to a fight everyone knows they need to lift their game and who needs to be shut down.

If you can cut your Elite rank off the back of a cornflakes packet it means nothing. Elite should be, well, elite.

Strange, if the image is not a fake, it is proof that for your combat rating, it does not need for the targets to have a bounty on them. For I am close to 1000 bounties claimed and still Expert.

Me too... And I've got rather a lot of very large targets among those kills too...

I'm not surprised with the rate of 170 kills/h ! Last week, with some friends we tried the Federal Capital Ship zone at Kappa Fornacis and it's way too easy to finish quickly all enemy NPCs after the help from friendly NPCs and this capital ship too strong !

Congratulation FromtonRouge ^^ !
