Someone claims to have reached ELITE status

if you look at the linked spreadsheet it explains how he done it... not in a conflict zone, in a capiltal ship event zone and took the cap ships faction then let the cap ship do the bulk of the damage while he mopped up the kill shots

Let`s see what FD say about it !
There has to be some kind of reaction too it.
If he claims the victory for himself and they grant him the first place in the Elite Status status competition i ll complement him.
But to be honest the Capital ship method is not the way to become an Elite Sharpshooter imho.

There's still no statement that it was done in Open, if not then it's not even eligible for the award.

:S
4 railguns? Dunno.

No rail guns, 2 beam lasers@2 pulse lasers, according to his screen shots!

@killwarant, discovery scanner.

How can he have killed capital ships if there aren't any in game yet, I have seen 1 capital ship so far in game and that 1 was in earths orbit.:S

If this is so then well done to him, congratulations on becoming ELITE,

You can find other capships than the one in Sol ^^. For example Kappa Fornacis, Durius, Sorbago (not here anymore), ... !
And he let the capital ship help him for killing enemy NPCs, he doesn't try to kill the capital ship !

As someone said he must have done it in solo mode (which invalidates the prize) I can't see him spending that much time in any war zone in MP without seeing or being confronted by another CMDR! He wouldn't have lasted five minutes against many of the guys in ED.

Many of the guys in ED wouldn't have lasted five seconds against the overpowered federal capship xD !

That's why it isn't a risk to chain NPC in OpenPlay with this help in the warzone ^^ !

This semi-confirms my theory that it's best to fight in a combat zone to rank up, due to enemy pilots usually being competent and up skill level wise.

I came to the same conclusion after killing about 100 ships in one and then noticing I'd gone up to competent. I only have 140-odd bounties so I didn't think I was anywhere close to going up.

10 second rule? So you could become Elite in Combat without getting a single kill-shot, without ever killing expert combatants!?

This truly is becoming "Elite:Easy Peasy".

Becoming Elite should be more than just a numbers game. For example you should have to defeat a number of Deadly and Elite opponents (NPC and PC Players) and demonstrate some real skill. I don't think mopping up after a capital ship should count. :-(

Well kudos to him if he did.
But it's a little disappointing you can achieve it relatively quickly. Ok, playing solidly 20 hours a day for 20 days isn't exactly quick, but it seemed from the spreadsheet to be quite a linear path, bounties and capital ship encounters. I thought I read somewhere about special missions to complete before attaining Elite status, or is that part of the capital ship thing (I wouldn't know I'm still mostly everything in a sidey).

What the post above says

Sorry about that miss read his spreadsheet notes,

(thought he said that he killed a cap ship)

Any way congrates to him for becoming ELITE

Congrats, I played the Frontier Elite to death, even finished the scripted missions to get the alien ship, still never made Elite with the amount of time I poured into the game.
I hope this time, to at least achieve it in one of the three categories.
