and I give you ... the Red Rectangle Protoplanetary Nebula

Somewhere in Alioth, a signal using encrypted low waves technology reaches the device meant to collect it

Hello mother.

As you know I'd set path towards the Red Rectangle (1458.39Ly from Alioth) a while back. Be reassured, I am fine but I found so many interesting things on the way that it took three times as long as I originally planned... as they say, the path is the voyage, reach your destination and you cannot but be disappointed.

Strangely, if I feel sad being away from you, I feel good being so far from the human world, and surely, the blur of being far away helps realize and scale back any current events around Sol and Achenar to what it really is: a fart in the immense and gorgeous solitude of space. How can so much evolution and miracles lead to the human world being so vain I wondered? When you find yourself 1500+ Ly from it all, one cannot but help thinking of oneself as of an alien being, and doing so one really wonder if encountering the human world after journeying among the magnificent presence of blue-white super-giant stars floating in oblivion, wouldn't mean hating it right-away and decidedly bring someone to wish humanity to be the enemy... one suddenly finds compassion for any alien race who would establish contact with mankind, thinking that the joy of finding souls in the universe would inevitably turn into hatred once the lameness of what is done with it comes into perspective.

In any case, I aimed for this

and found this.

I thought I would be eager to return "home" at this point... but I think I'll keep going, further away from my kind, until I meet myself with the whole.
You are here with me always, in every sun I orbit about.
I hope you feel my love.

Great post m8!Tell me, is your wear&tear damage in ASP too high when exploring? Is there any stations in deep space for w&t repair (1000-3000 ly from Sol)?

hello. clearly no station anywhere (at least not any encountered by any explorer I know).
So in fact without a station to tell me I'm not sure what my wear&tear looks like on the hull.. but one thing is for sure: the ship mostly gets damaged by heating and (if you don't escape them) by being interdicted.
As long as you don't get too close to a black hole and aren't interdicted, as far as I know, your ship pretty much receives no damage while flying... and jumping from systems to systems gives 0 damage.

As I understand and had expirience before, most of the w&t damage ship suffer from hypercruise.Few weeks ago I traveled in ASP about 200ly without heat/interdiction and jumped to Alfa Centauri with maybe 20k dmg, and after that 0.22ly crazy hypercruise trip i get 350k more w&t dmg.If you are exploring everything with your ship (with detailed surface scan) you should have pretty high w&t dmg.

I'm kitting out an ASP right now for exploration and plan to take one of the auto repair thingies with me to counter this and allow me to go faaaaaaar into the galaxy.

Auto-repair doesn't help with wear & tear... only some modules (not even all).

Regarding wear&tear passive damage if anyone has further proofs of this I'm interested. I mean one commander went to Sagittarius A* and back without exploding... meaning there is a limit to wear&tear. I'd guess there is a cap on it. Anyone knows if there is a way to see the wear&tear damages from the UI tabs etc? (I mean without a nearby station to check?)
