Ok so spent a couple hours trying to find the post that I read, or my brain totally made up it appears.

I see no combat reward for murder came in beta 3.9 and my recollection was that some time after sandro or ed added to this suggesting the ranking was still adjusted but I can't find it so assume I made it up adding to some mis-information there.

Just because you can't find ti doesn't mean you are wrong. Information posted by the devs in threads is hard to find.

Anyone got an idea on numbers? I have a bit over 6 million in bounty money, about 680 claims (just under 9000 per claim, some of which were in Gamma pre-buff).

I've never been to a warzone yet or fought any human CMDRs; maybe I should.

I don't think its exactly to do with the bounty values, but the ships and their skill rating. Bigger ships do tend to have bigger bounties, but not always.

Pirates generally have bigger bounties (maybe they did more murdering than the smugglers or loiterers) too. Do Warzones generally have more high-rated pilots than nav beacons?

smuggling get you a much bigger bounty than anything else if you don't pay the fine. You get some elite ships at warzones, not sure how often the nav beacons has them.

Killing higher ranked ships makes a difference, and murders DO count - check out Sandro's comments in this thread...https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=68998

Looks like the only thing used in the calculation is the skill rating difference between you and the ship you kill.
So killing elite sidewinders is better than killing harmless pythons.

I got to expert last night. 500 or so kills I think, but I killed a lot of Anaconda, Pythons, and Asp's. Equal share between bounties and combat bonds.

651 bounties and still competent with 4.4M Cr earned from bounties. I'm just killing everything I come across with a bounty. Most of mine are clean local and the bounty is revealed with a KWS, but those should still count.
