Lets make it Dangerous

I do not know if the idea is new or old but...

Trading is creating huge income, it is way bigger than anything else I have been able to find. I may not be the biggest trucker, but I earn ~1 million in 20 minutes. Then the trade routes ~never die. I am sure people have been complaining about this, at least I hope so.

Maybe trade income should not be decreased, maybe actually even increased, but at the same time you should make Elite Dangerous to be way more dangerous...

What if someone makes tons of money in place A, and this would create a news feed that all players can read? This at least should bring more players to the area, and would decrease the amount of money one player can earn from single trade route. Also NPC trucks should show up to the area, but not to decrease the income directly.

More pirates should be spawning to the area as well. They should have so good interdiction skills that player would come down at least some times. Player should also have hard time escaping these situations. At the moment there really is no change to lose your cargo.
Those NPC trucks in the area would be really nice targets for pirate players.

Also, when a good trade route is filled by pirates -> Bounty hunters would show up to the same system. This would increase the money bounty hunters would actually earn. Simply because it would be easy to find good bounties.

This would balance the income and create a lot more "cooperation" between the players. I also assume this is not a huge thing to implement.

You were planning to bring groups in the game. Others hauling and others defending it. Create a way to make transactions for other players. You get groups hauling very profitable and very dangerous trade routes together, and sharing the profits.

So maybe hauling should create a huge stream of income, but you need your friends to defend your truck. If you have done tons of money on the same route, you can be sure that a pirate will take you down -> This would be a nice fix to the solo game as well. In solo, you can drive the truck as much as in the open, but you have to take on account that driving that big hauler alone makes the Elite Dangerous.

+1 great ideas

I do agree that trading income should be tuned down a lot. My suggestions are that:

- To get real income you should trade between systems that are like 15+ Ly away from each other, thus risking with your goods if you want to make any real cash.
- Missions like "deliver this 100 cr worth stuff to nearby system and get 5000 cr in 5 minutes" should be tuned down A LOT as well. Good cash should be paid only for delivering a very valuable cargo or handling illegal stuff such as narcotics, slaves and so, rest of the cargo delivery missions should give only +10-+20% income over maximum cargo trading income as it seems to me. So missions stil lwill be interesting, but not that ridiculously money-effective.
- Smuggling should be more risky but really much more rewarding. Trading on black markets should give real income.
- Plus, I think pricing on some cargo should be reviewed, more new cargo will be welcome as well.

Well, the perspective here is that trading would actually be dangerous.

Making it so that none can drive freighters alone might be better fix than making it less profitable. Will make nice scenarios to fly in a wing with your friends, fighting off the pirates, and making nice profits.

Trading profits can be high in my opinion. You are taking personal risk with your cargo. Losing that cargo of multiple millions does not make you to smile. The only issue is that atm. there is no risk to lose it.

Wing based system, trading could profit even more. This should still mean that you actually and really have to fight ~always to get the cargo delivered. Pirate at the station will call to his friends and they are waiting for you to leave the station.
Currently they are waiting at some USS that someone stops to be scanned. Criminals are rarely smart, but seriously?

System distance should not matter in my opinion.

Smuggling, this sure should be way more profitable than it is currently.

One more small thing to be fixed, not related to this topic directly. Python is a medium multi-purpose ship. Still it can haul more than Type 6, that is a full-purpose medium freighter. Python has actually even more cargo space than Type 7.

One more idea related to this one...

A player is interdicted. Then (s)he can send a coded distress signal. This will be visible in the system, like USS. Friends can then jump to this signal to help the freighter.

If you make a public distress signal, anyone can jump to this signal. Nobody says that the good guys are coming to help you, nor says that it was a helpless freighter sending the signal in the 1st place.

When a ship is interdicted, the time it has to wait before it can jump away has to be longer. This will leave time for other pirate ships to join the fight, as well as time for help to arrive.

NPC pirates will try to disable the freighter and steal the cargo. Not to destroy the players ship. This makes automatic repair systems useful indeed.

Security will jump to this location at some point. But not too fast, else the Elite continues to be a kindergarten.

Without implementing Wings, this should create rather fastly implemented content to serve the purpose.
