Galnet wall of shame.....freelancer

Hi
In the game freelancer when a human player was killed
a message came up for all to see letting the rest on-line
know that you had been killed ,also you got a one line description
of how they were killed.... it looked a bit like this
'Cmmdr wishicouldflythisthing'has died eating a torpedo...or
'Cmmdr doesmybumlookbiginthis' died trying to swallow a planet... or
'Cmmdr hasthisthinggotanyguns' died at the wrong end of Cmddr 'ikillyoualls' guns...

Maybe the deaths could be announced on the galnet news board or something.
while your looking in the stations browsing you could check who had died that day
and have a good laugh ..i mean offer your condolences....whatever

I had a lot of fun playing freelancer ,loved it in fact and that was a very funny part of the game.

....its just a thought....

Cmddr Tyros

Please don't flame this post as i dont carry heat shields

Maybe just include the ones who have lost an expensive ship and flew without enough credit for the re-buy :D.

Mind you that would be too many as well... oh well, forget that idea...

I suggested this too in a different thread. There should absolutely be a Highest Uninsured Losses article in GalNet News.

Something like:

CMDR Blah lost a Type 7 worth 21,453,876 credits to Azeban City

At least the GalNet could report when one of the 'Most Wanted' bit the dust, and how it happened.
I've just read a post by someone who killed a player with an 800,000 bounty on their head.

If it listed who killed who that would be a like a red rag to a bull as far as dedicated player killers are concerned.

I would rather not see who killed who, but I would love to see statistics for combative losses in a system. Similar to the number of ships passing through a system now, I'd like to see a numerical representation of how dangerous a system is in a 24-hour window.

If nothing else this thread has highlighted a general desire for players to see player related news on GalNet and not just story content.

I would love to see a station safty post in galnet as well. they already do trafic for a system, why not add number of failed smugglers, amout of claimed systems bounty kills, and total number of system player outlaws in that safty post as well.

Yes, I think Galnet should be expanded to have subsections like your daily newspaper. A "Galactic news" segment that contains the storyline stuff, a "Commander news" segment that highlights bounties, recent killing, etc - maybe an economic section that talks about trends in markets across the galaxy, famine, shortages, etc., plus buy/sell rates of different ships (sort of like what they had in the newsletter during the betas). And maybe for fun add in an entertainment section with sports, celebrity, horoscopes, etc.

Great idea, an obituary column!

I liked Freelancer and still play it via mods to this day. :) As for an obituary column, I think CMDR Texas Stu has a point. There would be too many to read if it was Galaxy wide thing. A local report then of the area in and around the station sounds good. It would let a new visitor know what these parts are like.

I totally agree to the implementation of the above mentioned report.

Other than that?
No Thanks, no need to spam my U.I. whilst fighting/ browsing illegal activities.

What the game needs is information in a realistic measure,
dynamic events and reactions to player driven/generated events
and the gal-net reporting about it, like one the forum users here does.

I don't want a "texter-of-shame" on my screen, telling me how azeban city has become elite
within 24 hours due to sidewinder-ramming kills.

+1 for local reporting, nice to know what's going on in the neighborhood.

Of course if it's something big, it can be Galnet wide. Sort of if a liquor store gets robbed, you might read of it in the local press, but wont be written about across the country, but if a mega bank heist happened, you might not only read about it across the country but internationally.

That's what I was thinking....talk about message spamming....

Gal-Net could be the galaxy wide news reporting stuff and a local newspaper could bring you hot stuff from around the corner,
distributed into clusters of 10-15 systems.

"Delta Pavonis Times, today, the great theft of 10 tons of Ear grubs".

Yes, in FL you could have 128 players on a server max, limiting the amount of these incidents. In ED there'd be far too many.

Tho a local system death report similar to the traffic report and bounty reports might work.

would be amazing if it would also report when a large amout of stolen or illigal cargo gets sold in the black market localy as well. like minimum of 50k, or perhaps up to 100k of such goods sold. would get the event reported.
