Woke up to:
- reset controls profile
- shields will not go on, taking all sorts of random heat damage. Just took 1Mil heat damage just docking at a nearbye station?!

turned off silent running, filled my cargo, "silent running' notification, then immediately after, 'thermal signature restored"

What would be causing me to be spontaneously going into silent running and out again like that?

Open Controller software, move controllers around, press all the buttons - do all inputs appear in the software?

YOU SIR!
Silent running was set to the Back button on my controller, which is also my back out of stuff button!. You saved me so much headache. I would never have thought of that.

Shields off + Random Damage = Silent Running.

I've seen a couple of reports of controllers resetting themselves today - If in doubt, I would double check your controller software.

You can actually check your bindings in game, assuming you can get to the right computer monitor in your ship. Go to the right most tab and select 'Pre flight checks'. This allows you to check your important bindings in-game.
