I tell people not to buy this game

You think you're being so mature. More personal attacks from you. Real mature. You're the one that is acting adolescent. Actually I want you to go away, but you won't because you are a troll. You are sitting here griefing me being the tone police.

Seriously stop. Your post was the most adolescent thing anyone could possibly read. Go back to COD or WOW or whatever instant gratification your ADHD demands from your brain.

This game promised way more than it delivered, especially calling itself 'multiplayer.'
The game promised an Elite remake and it delivered. Elite was never for a wider audience and it still isn't. Everybody who *should* be playing this game heard about it from the kickstarter time and most likely pledged :) Taioring this game for your friends will likely screw it for us, so good riddance!

these things are like this because it's not meant to be an insta click game for dumb players it assumes your a thinking human that would like some immersion it's elite dangerous not Simpsons taped out for heavens sake.

and you can't check remotely because we are talking about light years!

although i will happily concede that maybe some galnet adds from stations with interesting mods would be a nice touch who knows maybe we might get ingame radio adds for such things one day?

I also really want to hit people saying "immersion" with something heavy. It is because of them we ended up with so many useless cutscenes we can't even interrupt.

dont defend yerself from FDF OP - it implies doubt, yer good, people get real attached to themselves as time progesses. they plan on bankrolling ED by themselves, all good.

...ENOUGH

OP - sorry you don't like the game, if you have specific questions please post them and we'll try to help.

Everyone else - if you want to help, please do. If you think this is a troll thread, ignore it.

Thank you.

The paid forum posters are out in force today! Looks like everyone (and I mean everyone) is back to work after the holiday break

Why does the launch animation at the dock work so slow? Tedious after 500 times.

I do a lot of things while the ship is turning. Setting my nav point. check the cargo. go through my moduls because i dont have always all active. set the ship lights and finnaly retract gear. So for me it's fine in a cobra. However for the large ships it's a bit a wait sometimes. You should have been in the early times of this game when traveling in the game really meant you had to spend time!

Why do you i have to open up contacts, find the person I was scanning with my k-warrant scanner, then look into contacts, then look to see if he's got a bounty on him? Breaks immersion, tedious.

Nope. The killwarrant scan takes time. But looking left is no effort with DK2. Then I switch the tab for and back (away from contact and back to contact) and I have the correct ship selected and can read the bounty. Why all this menus only update when you switch tab's for and back.. I guess that not even FD knows or they had fixed it long ago.

Why does the nav plotter reset to economical every time?

That's a bit bad done. Agree. But more than that the 100ly limit and the slow route finding is what's really anoying. That feature however came in very very late short before the release. So you have it already a lot more confortable than the early players

"Play your way." Not really, play dope wars in space and haul goods all over or make my no real progression.

Hauling cargo is boring. It should be more interesting once they fix the influence system and you can change systems to other faction or help them grow economical etc.
I think a lot already try to and it's hard to take that it's not working. Even harder because Frontier didn't tell and so many wasted effort in trying this for nothing.
I see this as my main game.

Combat doesn't scale at all.
It could be improved. Don't like the sidewinder chain and than the sudden switch to anaconda chain. They could make more balanced combat. And I don't like it at all when there are 100 police ships next to me. That the money doesn't scale. Well I can live with that.

The conflict zones sound really really exciting until you realize that its just green and red ships flying around aimlessly while you spend more money killing them than you get out of them. 3k combat bonds? what a joke. We sit on voip and play together but the only

I made 10 mil bounds with my sidewinder in the combat zone. :)
It became harder lately. I got more under fire from multiple enemies at the same time and had to start useing a lot claffs and shild cells and even switch back to a safer tactic.
But yes 3k for those ships (they seem harder to kill) is too less. And no I didn't kill them but the capital ship.
Tried with my Cobra a few time and figured that it indeed doesn't pays out to kill this 3K ships and even more you risk too lose a lot because you sometimes get touched by one of those ships and the A cobra explodes instantly.

Sorry OP. I agree there are a great many quality of life issues that could be resolved. Unfortunately this forum only has thosewho would dare not use thy software company's name in vain. It's as bad here as it is on the official WoW forums. They think that if you have a complaint that means you hate the game. Apparently something is black or white without a gray area. These are the same guys actually wish the game was single player!!!

There needs to be REAL forums (like MMO-C) where the real gamers can actually talk about ways to improve the game not with these bunch of forum basement friends.

Immersion, for people who like to imagine they are living "that life". But yeah, maybe there should be a way to toggle these types of cut-scenes.

If you still have the ship locked, you don't have to "find" him in your list of contacts; just tab over to his details. Not immersion-breaking; it would be more so if a big neon bubble popped up to show you if there are any bounties available.

Why does the nav plotter reset to economical every time?
To save on fuel? It would be nice if it remembers the last choice or there was a default setting you could set.

This game promised way more than it delivered, especially calling itself 'multiplayer.'
What game hasn't? Give them time; I would hope they are working on bugs and finishing what they missed. It's not ruining my fun at the moment. Just try to work through these post-initial-release things, and see how things look by the end of the month.

I don't see "Light Years" being a problem.
Consider this - if you have 1mbit internet connection and you want to copy something across the street, wouldn't it be faster to just dump everything on a 6gbit removable drive, walk across the street and connect it there?

Thus.

Station roster can be dumped into a drone. That drone is able to use FSD, move periodically to a central point, where "Light Years" are not a problem, and data can be acquired. Then, there can be another layer of drones that would radiate the information between systems. Even in Elite's universe that a perfectly sound and doable solution. You wouldn't have an 'instant' snapshot, but 'good enough' snapshot that would cover 80% of use cases.

I do understand the steps that were taken towards immersion. But sitting for 20 seconds at the 'outfitting' loading screen, without the ability to even browse the market, contacts or whatever is not immersion. It's bad design. It makes me tab out to read these forums, instead of being immersed in the game, which was the original point! The same goes for friendship drive.

There are dozens of improvements that can be made. What about upper left/right UI panels? Something to review your target, review your next few jumps, maybe something that would break down the information regarding current system and give us the essentials?

Elite is entrenched in the 80s aesthetics and busywork. We live in 2015 in the age of analytics, big data and automation. Every time you restrict the players from access to information or limit the functionality, they will cover it themselves with their own tools. Look what has happened to trade. In EvE for instance, you have tools good enough for the region you're in, that you don't really need outside tools to keep you in the game.

I've done a piece on the whole 80s phenomena here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=89150

Hmm, I tell people the game is awesome, as I enjoy the game immensely. I guess it's a matter of different strokes for different folks. I hope you find a game that better fits your play style. Cheers.

Speaking for only myself, I like th game enough as a starter and invested in the X55 Rhino and the Oculus Rift system. Next up will be the Obutto Cockpit system as soon as it comes out of back order.
I am confident that Frontier will address/fix/update and provide new content as time goes by. To give up so early in the release is nuts to me.
And just one more point, there is simply nothing out there right now that comes close to E D. The game does not spoon feed you. it's challenging for players like myself (I'm 64) and the most important part i am having FUN with the game.

Ha! Look all you want. I was not a founder, but I gladly paid the retail cost and I am loving the game. You are not, and like most younger (guessing but bet I am right) folks you feel the need to vent. More power to you.

I meant what I told you before. If you want the game to be better, be constructive and help the devs. If not, just go away. It is simple really... you care enough to help improve the game or you dont.

You are so right. It wasn't at all constructive for OP to list in detail the things he finds tedious about the game. Meanwhile you were very constructive in posting to call him a troll and make unsubstantiated claims that he is young (the proverbial 'get off my lawn' so sadly common on these forums).

@OP: I agree with many of the things you have to say. The docking platforms should immediately enter the hangar and rotate you at the very least. I am sure they will fix the galaxy map not remembering your preference. As for the payouts and general income balance, I would be willing to bet that is very high on their priority list. In another thread today a dev posted they are looking at balancing the high costs of med/large ships. Personally, I would prefer they add higher income earners in exploration, bounty hunting, missions, faction missions, etc instead of just lowering costs. We will see.

your still limited to light speed for data that's why it's that way it's just the way they wanted it to be to make you go figure out the markets for your self if you don't like that dynamic then sorry your probably not in the right game or you should consider doing some pvp or bounty hunting maybe?

trading is not the only option by any means although at the moment it is the most lucrative for sure.
the only part of elite the devs wanted to make less realistic was travel otherwise we would all be stuck in sol system or have to resort to speeding up in game time.
