Disclaimer: I love little things like this that make me grin in anticipation and wonder 
So I took a trek out to go investigate Gamma Velorum.
It's close to 1000 LY from the Empire frontier. Thanks to a tip from a viewer to "go check it out on the map", I couldn't help but notice that it requires an "Unknown Permit" to enter.
That's cool! There's actually a handful of star systems like that that I've stumbled across on the map.
However, the really curious part was that *all* of the Regor Sector stars surrounding Gamma Velorum also require an "Unknown Permit" to enter. A rather large bubble of an effectively gated area.
I couldn't help but go out there to take a look. What was I hoping to find? No idea. NPC traffic of another civilization? Clues of any kind? Artifacts in USSs, anything would have had me giddy.
I'm not normally the exploration type. I enjoy combat too much. I had talked about going on an adventure of exploration many times during beta when we were still confined by the pill, but this was the first thing out there that made me give in to my curiosity and head out there.
I couldn't enter any of the Regor sector systems, of course, as they required that unknown permit. The closest I could get was about 78 LY from Gamma Velorum itself by way of one of the Dark Sector systems bordering the Regor Sector systems. I couldn't resist posting a couple of pics to twitter and asking if I could come in
I swept through and scanned a good number of the Dark sector systems along that border, but ultimately found nothing but stellar objects, and a black hole on the way home to Empire space.
Anyway, I hadn't thought about it much till now, and looked up Gamma Velorum on the Googles. Apparently, it's a nearby candidate for supernova.
Upcoming event? I'm excited to find out what's up out there - regardless of what it is!
