Please help me get to an empire system

Hi all, my first post and probably a real face palmer....I'm really struggling to navigate to the closest empire system to cash in some big bounty claims. I am currently in the Frigaha system and piloting a Viper can someone give me a route to the closest empire system....Thanks in advance..i know i'm being a noob...

Have you seen that there's lots on the galaxy map? Just making sure you know how to go "up and down" on the galactic plane...as there's hundreds of Empire systems if you work your way down.

Galaxy map, change view to show systems by allegiance, move the map down. When things start turning red you've found the empire.

Welcome to civilisation my friend, all hail the Emperor.

Thanks guys, yeah i've done that but cant seem to get my head around it i've found the red empire pin points but struggle to plot them back to my current location...:[ obviously when they are so far away you are unable to use the plotting option...

- Find one you think that's closest
- Click "select" when you have it higlighted
- Click on "current location" and note the general direction. Generally you can think of it as a compass direction and an extra dimension, it's quite easy to follow
- Select systems near your frame shift drive limit in that general direction and work towards it, by clicking "select" on them... that avoids the less-than-optimal path the software will pick for you.

Because you have a taste for Cider, I suggest you download Elite Copilot built by one of the guys on here. I'm using it and it's brilliant. You'll need to do the step described by Automan first to identify a destination, uyt then AP will just guide you there.

Galaxy map, view systems by Faction.

Its ok Cornish, we all begin as noobs so no question is a problem. There are plenty of people out there that will provide a solution to any problems that you may have.

Now getting down to answering your question. If you open your Galaxy map and select the view tab, then select map option then check only the box beside Empire. This will display only the empire systems on the map. From that point it should be very easy to navigate your self to the nearest system.

Hope that helps

Zoom out on the Galaxy map with the Empire locations lit up and then pick any location between you and those that will route and go for it. Most Empire space is over 100ly from you so you may need to repeat this until you can make it. You may want to upgrade FSD first. (highly recommended)

Also note that you have to wait for the routes to plot out on the map. It seems to start at your current location and work outwards, so if you're far from an empire system, it might take a while.
Zoom out a little to see it in action.
You might also want to select fastest route instead of economic route.

See if you can fly towards Ngalkin. Even before you get there you should come across an nearby Imperial system, otherwise when you get there you should be at one.

EDIT: Suggestion based on some third-party journey planner where I typed Frigaha to Achenar and picked the first Imperial system along the way (there might be one before, but Ngalkin was the highest one that I had definitely visited). The minimum jump capacity for the journey was 11 light years by the way.

Yeah I think economic route send you on extra jumps to save a thimble full of fuel
Just remember to bring a fuel scoop. Bargain bucket ones set you back at 600 credits, that's all you need at the bare minimum. A Viper's fuel economy is not great.

You dont have to fly too far away. Liaedin is quite close (I hope I spell it correctly) - Open galaxy map and in navigation tab type liaedin. First button to target, second to create a route. If you cant, travel to closest system connected with this "lines" and than try to create a route again (navigation tab also allows you to pick economy mode - cheapest and fast mode - picking up systems close to your maximum jump range. Second one need to rebuild a network but its worth it).
And remember - fuel scoop for 20k is good investment (you just need to orbit around the star and watch temperature - don't cross the yellow line around the star and you will be fine - you will start to get hull damage if temperature cross 150% - I pull back in about 130-135%). To increase jump range - equip lighter gear and more powerful Frame Shift Drive. Power Distributor and Power Plant also make a huge difference - Thrusters too but you need to pay attention to optimal hull mass). E < A is a 'quality' and efficiency of item, digit next to this is mass and size.

Good luck commander! Godspeed!
