Where to obtain Personal Weapons

unfortunately the galaxy map is still plain wrong... Exports are a lie. Commodity flows are a lie. I'm starting to run short on time .....
Not sure if this works for personal weapons, but the best way I know to find something specific is to go to the commodity market of a place with demand for what you're searching for, click on it and over to the right with the description is a section labeled "Imports from" with a list of systems. Go to one of those systems and the stuff is going to be avaailable at one of the stations.
Until today that worked for me fine, but i filtered for personal weapons and saw the flows coming from two systems. None of the stations in that system had personal weapons. Same with stations who were supposed to export personal weapons according to the system view. Couldn't find any in the region I am in.

I'm beginning to think I'm not cut out for a career in the navy. I'm on the same mission with the same sort of problems. Here I am docked at the only orbital in Chamunda- and there are no personal weapons to be had. Guess I'll thumb twiddle, go for a cruise and check back. Bit frustrating though.

That's a long trip for my little Sidewinder. I'll see if I can go be a ground pounder somewhere else
Is there a filter for high tech worlds or anarchy systems? Otherwise how did you find the high tech world, just random planet searches?
I am NOT accepting a Navy mission until I know where non lethal weapons, or personal weapons, can be found relatively close!
This piece of advice just saved me from failing a mission, by <5 minutes no less. The Empire and I thank you!
Thanks for the tip! I was able to get my weapons from there and it was only a few jumps from where I got the mission.

I have found that the color flow lines sometimes get updated if you acquire "trade data" from a given system in the galaxy map. I have the strong suspicion that the color flow lines do not necessarily reflect real time data, but the latest known trade state (for whatever reason). And that may be by design. I.e. the more common commodities and with higher standing stocks/demand are well known and more accurately reflected in the galaxy map lines, but the more shady ones or low volume may need more regular refreshers in the galaxy map via "purchase trade data".
Bottom line, before you decide to travel to a system based on color lines try first purchasing "trade data" of that system if you can, then re check the color lines.

Something is severely broken with the trade data, as I have tried to use the following methods of locating Personal Weapons, all without success:
Fortunately, even though I already had the mission, I kept being offered it again at the stations I was visiting (sometimes bugs work for you i guess), so with 6 minutes remaining, I took the mission again and abandoned the one that was about to expire. I'm now on a 240 LY round trip to LHS 3447, as it seems that the only reliable way of finding a station that has them is by hearing about it from a player that's actually seen them in a system.
In all, fairly major bugs seeing how important the sourcing of commodities is for the gamplay experience. It's a good job that the game is still in Beta, as these sort of fundamental problems would be very disappointing for a live game.
[EPILOGUE: The system that Dave1235 near LHS 3447 refers to is GD 219 (only one station, McKee Ring). Unfortunately, i hadn't noticed that the 'replacement' mission that i'd taken was not for Personal Weapons, it was for Non Lethal Weapons, which I could have ing got at the station that gave me the mission (which is 120 LY journey back). What a lovely afternoon I've had.]
Something is severely broken with the trade data, as I have tried to use the following methods of locating Personal Weapons, all without success:
- Tried showing the trade lines for Personal Weapons in the Galaxy Map. Used the 'Show Trade Data Available' trick to buy data for everything around. One system showed as exporting. Went there, to both stations (34,000 l/s apart). No Personal Weapons. They DID have Battle Weapons though - but (of course) did not show these as trade lines if I selected them on the Galaxy Map, even though I had physically visited the system.
- Tried showing Anarchy systems on the Galaxy map and visited each one in the area (about 8). None of them had Personal Weapons, although some of them showed them on the market because there was a demand for them.
- Tried visiting the systems that showed as 'Imported from' on the various stations that had Personal Weapons in demand on their markets. None of them had Personal Weapons.
- As the 'Produced by' entry for Personal Weapons shows as "High Tech, Industrial, Military", tried visiting those at random. Nothing.
