Turreted weapons = buggy/broken or are they supposed to be this useless?...

Honestly... i have had none of the problems listed here. I had my ASP outfitted with a Medium class Turreted Beam laser(set to TARGET ONLY) and all the rest of my weapons were Multi-cannons. when deployed IF you get shot the turret will auto-fire at the target IF you have him targeted. i never had one auto-fire before being hit UNLESS i shot the target once with a multi-cannon. (thats because those were my trigger finger weapons) by keeping at least two pips to weapons the Laser had more than enough power to fire whenever the enemy target was in its firing arc. yes sometimes it did continue to fire even when the target was out of range(but i rarely ever let a target get more than 1km away.

Honestly, i loved that Turret, it functioned perfectly even when the enemy was throwing out chaff.(that may be due to the fact that i deliberately keep my ship close to the enemy). only one time did it fire at someone i didnt want it to.. and that was when a fed ship flew through its beam.

for me, i feel turrets work just fine.

I did exactly that (Target only) and guess what happened when I quickly toggled through Contacts ?
They immediately fired on everbody that I toggled through with Hostile Status (while I and them were both clean).

Within 2 Seconds - getting me Wanted instantly - all the other Security Vessels became hostile as well, now also becoming Targets that the Turrets happily engage (if you toggle through them just once, even for a split second).
There's literally no way out of this, unless you have a button to break locks or are able to quickly manually target anything else.

Back then, it took me 3-4 Seconds to realize what went wrong. By that time, it was already way too late. That's how fast these things screw it up.

Instantly retracting these useless and dangerous devices is the only way out - at least to avoid further damage.

You need to retract your hard points before you cycle through targets. It's a pain I know and far from ideal, but I managed to fly an Anaconda with turrets in extraction zones in premium beta without ever once getting mass agro because my turrets opened fire on someone I didn't want them to.
