So about the cheaters.......

So in the event that you run across people that seem to kill you without firing anything and just looking at you, is there a special place to report them? I mean after they destroy you they seem to essentially destroy the only means of reporting them in game.....unless I am missing something.

So, they finally appeared? took them long enough :) There is report function in the game and there is "hacking" option there.

We dont know that yet. Is OP being hit with a railgun from a blind spot in a small ship? Are you absolutely sure its a hack/cheat?

What you have to do is see their name so you can report it. Of course you cant target them and use "4" and report player becuase when you die (instantly) you wont have a target anymore. So if this is the case, that these people can kill you instantly, then you have to fly around and take names ALL THE TIME since it can happen at any time. Luckily i havent run into this ...yet.

And so the the fallacy of using p2p is known, trackable, crackable and ultimately hackable.
Yeah, that's the *real* reason this game is not for PvP :) I'm happy with my DC switch though, so I don't care much. The way OP phrased his question though makes me wonder whether I will have enough time to press my hotkey though :)

I was hit in the Eravate system, real close to the starting area. Also when you are destroyed your chat window disappears as I can only report them when I can select them when they are in the same system as me. Sending my back to my last space station kinda ruin's it preventing me from submitting a report. This in my opinion is a huge problem since I am not sure they are hacking until I see them casually doing nothing than you suddenly get destroyed. I really see a flaw in that reporting system if I am unable to send a report after I am destroyed about someone that was OBVIOUSLY cheating.

Absolutely sure it was a hack. There was no weapons fired. I had full shields and 100% hull I was instantly 1 shot by a completely harmless ranked pilot.

It will surely become a huge problem, I have no doubts, but can't you just memorise the commander name and report them from the so called "Pause" menu?

You can get one shotted by a harmless ship with railguns. They might have traded to get the money and their status is harmless and yet have a good ship with top of the line railguns. Not saying it wasnt a hack. Videos would be nice (from anyone).

This sounds more like a bug to me than someone magically blowing up your ship with a "hack". Poeple are spontaneously blowing up all over the place, not just in pvp - and just because you had another CMDR on your screen at the time doesn't mean he's guilty.

I understand that, but even rail guns need to be fired for them to actually do damage...

While I reject killing other players for no reason, only because "it's possible" or even "fun", where in the rules is written this isn't allowed on Open? On the open server you can do what ever you like to do so some do everything they like including random killing, shooting and more. That's why the PVE group is so popular it crashed the groups functionality :D

So I understand why you like to report users for this, on the open server there is little to do against this type of player. It's allowed, there are no rules on how to play. The only method of succesful dealing with these users is becoming an expert fighter and go after them. (I rather spend my time on exploring systems for good trades, I even fly without weapons)

There were shield/hull hacks during the late gamma via cheatengine and I bet they just obfuscated the values to make it less trivial. What do you expect? I am honestly suprised it hasn't happened earlier.
How is this even a thing? You have to login just to play the game. If the client requires you actually login, does it NOT temporarily upload/download changes to the game to ensure the copy which is being used is actually a validated copy of the game, therefor something that shouldn't/couldn't be tampered with?

Okay, fine. I'll give it you that perhaps the game is 'hackable'. But not to the extent of this. The only reason why I will actually concede, just a little bit, is because players can change the colors of their cockpits. If they can do this, if they can actually make changes to the game outside of the game, then I can agree that PERHAPS it is possible. However, I do not believe that this is the case still nor will it be the case.

Throwing stones much? Let me tell you Mr Intelligent, being alone in an instance with another CMDR means exactly 0 as to the assumptions you can make about you being hacked.
.
I hope this thread gets closed as personal insults are a bit out of place.
I didn't come here to argue. I came here to state a concern and make an issue known. I've said my peace, placed a troll on ignore. Your input wasn't needed. Having people ruin the online environment for the rest of us does not help anyone. I'm not going to reply to anymore toxicity.

What ship were you flying?

It's happen to me and my opponents before were it looks like were are about to collide but dodge at the last second, but one of us will still take tons of damage like we did hit each other. It's happen to me and happen to my opponent once, and I assure you I'm not hacking, but it was tons of unexpected damage. If you were in a much weaker ship, the very same thing could have happened to you with no shots fire and would appear as a mysterious instant death.

What some of us are saying is, PvP is laggy/buggy enough right now that assuming it's a hack right away because your death seemed mysterious isn't the way to go.

Really tbh, right now there ARE bugs where people can just pop for no reason, on top of that there ARE weapons that can one shot you, so assuming you got hacked might be jumping to conclusions.

There is no validation at all right now, you can do whatever you want as it seems :) And you also don't have to tamper with a copy for most of the hacks, there are more subtle ways. In any case, let's see how it progresses. My expectation is that it will become a hackfest and then they (Frontier) will dump some cheat protection on us.

Much to learn, this one.
