[Suggestion] Remove "Jettison all Cargo" From Default Key Bindings

There is a command to jettison all cargo, and by default it is mapped next to landing gear.

The punishment for accidentally hitting this button is:
  • As name implies, jettison all cargo. Usually, in a station because you tried to hit landing gear but missed the key.
  • If near station, tons of expensive fines.
  • Loss of time spent picking it up, if you bother to do so.
  • Loss of money from fines, loss of money/time spent recovering items.

Compare this to other buttons that are left out of the default key mapping. These keys would be useful to have bound by default, have no negative consequences, and are yet still not bound by default.
  • Open galaxy map is not bound by default. I bound it to M, by the way.
  • Chaff is not bound by default.
  • Use Shield Bank is not bound by default.

Default key bindings must be one of the more simpler code changes to make, so why keep it the way it is when the negative effects are obvious?

Please consider changing the default key binding to not include "Jettison all cargo".

Thank you for your time

Who accidentally presses the End key? It's not like this is a cluster of keys people are usually pressing things on to accidentally hit it. o_O

I didn't even realize this was bound so closely to the landing gear default binding. Thank goodness I use voice for my landing gear all the time, otherwise that would be quite embarrassing.

Fully agree though, that is odd to actually have it bound by default when there are few times when you'd actually want to "dump your load" like that.

No it isn't...the End key is nowhere near the L key. .-.

Who keeps landing gear where it is originally? First thing i do - in all games - is mapping the keys to personal preference. I have landing gear on CTRL, cargo scoop on NUMenter, galaxy map NUM+ (to reach both easily from mouse hand). And i leave jettison all on END. Now im no where near that place and no accident can happen. I have chaff on CAPS LOCK, and shield bank on SHIFT+CAPS LOCK. I didnt even check if it was bound or not. I HAVE to set them as i want them. Wouldnt care if no buttons were set from start. You do it once and your're done.

Devs change them around again, people still move them to personal liking. On PC we always set our button layout in games/sims with many buttons. I think a lot of console users get a bit confused as they are used to not changing them on gamepads. You have identified what buttons is wrong or not mapped, so go set them and you are done. :)

I remembered when I jettison'ed all my cargo in a station by accident.. I lost all my cargo and I got some fines..
You could change your settings to a different keybinding.. Which everyone should look at before starting of their adventure..
Learn the keys, don't get hurt..

If you unplug a controller or gamepad it resets your bindings to default. The potential is there to have it reset to default and cause you a headache, still.

Does that still happen? I know it happened in Beta, but I unplug/replug my controllers all the time (4 joystick devices and a gamepad sometimes connected) and I've not had a problem since launch...

I had a PS3 controller plugged in, along with a joystick. Controls were set to joystick and keyboard.

I unplugged the PS3 controller while not logged in and when I reloaded the game it reset the settings to default. Mouse and keyboard.

Any reason for it to be bound at all? In what possible situation would you want to jettison ALL of your cargo with a key press and not a carefully planned amount?
