Pillars of Creation at Eagle Nebula

Has anyone been in the Eagle Nebula yet? and what about of its place in the galaxy map?
It would be quite the sight for explorers and find the iconic Pillars of Creation. It should be around 6,500 LY from SOL.

In the timeline of Elite, the Pillars no longer exist.

True story, they were, by most accounts, destroyed by a nearby supernova 6k years ago. The light of their demise will not yet be visible to us for another 1000 years.
