Black Boxes and Military Plans etc

We all know em.
We all love em.

The sheer amount of useless floating Warez we can only give to the Black Market as Illegal Actions.

And I would like to ask why.
I am an Imperial Pilot and Earl.

If I find Rebel Transmissions, Military Plans or Prototype Tech.
I would like to give it to my High Command which should be Completly Legal.

Same for Black Boxes which should be returned to the Pilots Federation so they can find out what happened to the Ship and take proper Steps.

As for Warez from Pirates I killed.
It should be returned to the Authorities so it can be used for proper things or returned to previous owners.

Its fine if this Nets less Profit than Selling it on the Black Market.
But I do think there should be an Legal Way to drop this Off at Stations so its not Floating in Space uselessly.
I doubt such a Waste of Ressources is anywhere close to Reality :p

Especially since this stuff is also mission salvage that they are sending you out to get.

Why should you have to smuggle it into the very station whose owners sent you to get it

At least if its the Owner of the Station which gives you that Job yeah.
Sometimes its Rebels etc.
But yes sometimes its also stupid that the Owner of an Station gives you a Salvage Job but fines you for bringing the stuff to you...

I actually thought of a solution for this, with out running the risk of it being an exploit.

Station owner sends you out to get say 4 Rebel Transmissions.

You goto the system, explore around and find a USS and it has 6 Rebel Transmissions. You pop open the cargo scoop and start scooping up stuff.

the 4 Rebel Transmissions as they are dropped into your cargo hold are converted to 'Haulage' which is legal and lawful. you decide that's enough and head on back

You go back to the station to turn in the mission, the cops scan you, no problem, you carrying haulage for a mission, No Crimes Detected. you dock, deliver and collect your pay check.

NOW lets go back a second back to the USS.

This time you decide to collect all 6, the first 4 Rebel Transmissions as they are dropped into your cargo hold are converted to 'Haulage' which is legal and lawful. HOWEVER, the last 2 stay as Stolen.

now you head back to the station, and you decide to dock, your scanned, OH NOES!, your fined, but not for all 6, just the last 2 you decided to smuggle in and make a tidy side profit.

NOW THAT'S REALISTIC, just like Privateers in the old days of sailing, as long as they stayed with in the bounds of the Letters of Marque, they were free to attack those ships designated, but often times some privateers would attack someone NOT on the letter of marque, or they would take more then their fair share. Usually they were fined or declared pirates at that point depending on how bad they violated the contract.

same thing should apply here, if you stay within the confines of the contract your good and in the clear, you decide to try and make a side profit, now you got to smuggle it in.

And of course if you have no mission and just find the stuff of course, regular smuggling rules apply.

Not sure about that, as I consistently hang on to small amounts of black boxes, rebel transmissions, and artwork, to complete missions faster. In all cases, you don't have to travel to the specified system to gather any of those, you can turn in what you have beforehand or collect it in any system.
I only noticed this last week, but it seems that the mission objective cargo (say military plans), only seem to spawn once per target system on jump in.

I jumped into a system earlier and came across some wrekage, and some Military Plans, I though ok, they came up as stolen, but as far as I'm aware this is still salvage from something that's happened not related to myself.
Got back to the station to find out what to do with them and found a nice fine of 16,500 credits instead.

So unlike the original game salvage doesn't count, it's stolen if you pick it up in space when no one else is around to own it. Yes , having the oportunity to return it to the establishment for a reward doesn't seem to be allowed.

For clarification, these items also come up as "stolen" when I pick them up. It's just that I've been lucky enough (and have "allied" standing at that particular station) to pass through. I've been fine up to +80k for smuggling, AND become "hostile" to another station just for being caught smuggling a few times.
