There seems to be a visual problem with the star lighting in the cockpit and on the objects within the system - specifically, sometimes the lighting color/tint is "off" and doesn't match the star class/color, showing up as normal neutral light.
- First off, a general problem/inconsistency I noticed: lighting works ok mostly only if you fly really close to the star, but not after you leave the star's immediate vicinity (beyond the main gravity well). Further off, it then reverts fully back to "normal" light without, say, any red tint from a class L red dwarf star. You can see the light if you turn around, and the light clearly is coming from this particular star judging by the shadows moving when rotating the ship, so it's not the light being diffused by another star for instance. This issue affects both the cockpit of the ship and the planets in the star system - in the system map, the small planets icons may be displayed with red or purple tint from a brown dwarf (which is how they're supposed to look up close too I suppose); but when you actually fly close to them, they have the same neutral-tinted lighting no matter what star(s) they're orbiting.
(A quick search of the forums also turned up this thread on the issue: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=68639)
- Second, there's a clear bug when sometimes even when flying close by it switches to the neutral lighting from the "further-away" version (see spoiler-tagged shots below).
Overall, I think the tinted lighting from the stars is somewhat underused in this otherwise stunningly beautiful game. Different star systems could be more visually diverse and distinguishable with the light emitting from the star having more noticeable effect in a wider area.
A few screenshots to illustrate the above points (all taken in the Set system, which has two class L red dwarfs and one class T brown dwarf):
Game version is 1.04, but this problem has been in at least since launch I think.
