reached the NGC 7822 Nebula at 2748Ly from Alioth

I am not the first to get here, but you can see a log for this travel here

A flare from one of the dozens of blue Hypergiants in the nebula

NGC 7822 is a young star forming complex in the constellation of Cepheus. The complex encompasses the emission region designated Sharpless 171, and the young cluster of stars named Berkeley 59. The complex is some 800-1000 parsec distant from Alioth (2723,46Ly), with the younger components aged no more than a few million years. The complex also includes one of the hottest stars discovered within 1 kpc of the Sun, namely BD+66 1673, which is an eclipsing binary system consisting of an O5V that exhibits a surface temperature of nearly 45000 K and a luminosity ~100000 times that of the Sun. The star is one of the primary sources illuminating the nebula and shaping the complex's famed pillars of creation-type formations, the elephant trunks.

I love posts like these.. would be great to have an exploration sub forum, that way they wouldn't disappear so quickly.

Looks like you have lost 10% of your health already..... Stay safe out there and keep sending those amazing pictures from "Where No Man Has Gone Before"

The explorer community is working on a sub-forum type... but shhhht, *more info soon* ;)

Here is a picture showing the various phase of approaching the Nebula (from 1000 Ly away to 50 Ly away =

I wondered if others had done this.

I just arrived here myself with a similar train of screenshots, so i'll add a few of my favourites below rather than the same sequence.

I was there at the weekend, funnily enough. That string of O Class stars is breathtaking. I call it the River of Heaven as it deserves a better name than the one it has.

Great work, I was disappointed my B fsd Cobra could not find a route. I was 50ly away and saw it from every angle. Glad to see some pics.
