one pilot? or more?

The trouble is even if you limit it to one char per account it doesn't prevent rich kids with daddy's credit card buying alt accounts.

That's something out of game and not much can be done about it unfortunately. But it'll be an expensive hobby if its done just to grief people. And it makes FD more money anyway ;)

I meant anonymous in regards to which characters are associated with an account.
So how do you identify the account? With a number, like in GW2? That seems to work fine.

But bear in mind that just because you see another toon with the same account reg., that does not mean you're looking at the same player. You could be looking at someone's sister or husband or best mate.

FD aside, pretty much all MMOs I have ever played allow multiple toons per account with the provision that if you get banned it's the account that's banned, not the toon. Sure, you can be a snot-bag with one alt and a friendly chap with another, but with enough complaints about the sb eventually the account will be banned - good person an all.

This could also mean 1 regular and 1 Ironman account
Indeed .. but if your Ironman dies ...

Nope, because the people you encounter will be different between those two modes so why would an ignore list be shared?

Also, if that was the case, what happens when your Ironman dies and you choose to drop into the regular group?

Edit: ninja'd by Liqua! :p

The way I'd envision it would work would be you'd click on a characters name in game, and on the reputation page it lists all the other character names its associated with (if there are any). Could even have a bit of roleplay along the lines of;

Pilot: Cathy, Citizen of the Federation.
Rank: Deadly
Known Associates: Tom, , and Harry.

I guess it would be up to the account holder to make sure that anyone else who uses the account uses it responsibly and doesn't use it to abuse other players in game.

Its about reputation in the end, not just Elite reputation, but your real life reputation as a person in a multiplayer world.

I thought stolen goods were marked as such so giving them to good characters makes them incur a penalty ?

You could give the goods to someone who is already a pirate and he will then pay you with money on your regular good character account.

That's like saying "Even if you have seatbelts, it won't prevent people getting injured in a car crash"

Which is a legitimate comment, when the original suggestion was the equivalent to suggesting that "Wearing seatbelts will prevent injuries"

It might reduce the number but it won't solve the problem.

It won't be 100% foolproof, but why make it easier or even encourage it?

What about it? You just reset you Ironman account.

Missing the point.

I, personally, will delete my dead Ironman character and remake it. However after a number of deaths I may think "sod this" and migrate them to normal to continue playing ... what then if I already have a normal commander ?

You have the option to make him normal. So then you might have more than one normal commander on the go.

Which, btw, is why I flagged up very early in group discussion the naming issue. I think it's covered.

You could have an option to overwrite you normal commander.

You'd be surprised how much some people are prepared to spend. It might seem expensive to the likes of you and me, but to some it's mere pocket change.

As for making FD money. I have no problem with that
