Their not to hard. If you can get the shields down and drop it to around 75% hull. I've had a few of them just sit there dead in the water the rest of the way down. At that point you can save on ammo costs buy just spamming them with lasers.

nah the AI is fine, until they fix lag dont enhance the AI. They are on par with belt rats in eve online. U need to be able to actually kill them to achive objectives. But this isnt a pure pvp game there is exploration and a metagame behind it. All we need is for the other things to work and it will be a decent game

I found conda's easier to take down with the Viper as opposed to using the Cobra or Eagle. I suppose an ASP or Clipper would make short work of them though.

I've never had much luck with Condas on my own, they always seem to be able to keep the nose pointed at me no mater how I try to maneuver around them, I try and stay in the blind spot but it never works. If there's other NPCs keeping it distracted i can hit and run but even then as soon as I come in range it always forgets whoever it was shooting at and comes at me full boar.

Here is how I go about it:

Viper, with B2 shield cell bank and chuff launcher, mostly A grade setup with 2x fixed multicannons (med) & 2 x gimbaled multicannons (small)

I stay as much behind as I can and pop chaffs all the time. Cell banks as they are necessary to avoid loosing the shield)

When the shields are down I aim for the drive. I have found that this goes down much faster than the FSD or the powerplant and it is much easier to target it.

When the drive is at 0 the anaconda is like a rotating duck that spits beams once in a while and very easy to deal with from then on.

Edit: I never had a defeat with this tactic and never really had to boost away. My viper is at the $2.5M price tag but I could do it with a $900k fitted setup as well.

Hope that helps.

In my Viper I almost exclusively use lateral and vertical to circle my target while continuously firing.
The only thing that counts is getting that shield down, so I use all weapons.
When shields are down I aim for the power plant. At this point getting in close helps to do more damage.
I almost never target the FSD, because in general Anaconda's do not jump away.
Most of the time I need one shield cell boost to get my shields back up.
Do not let an Anaconda get too far away from you, because when it turns it will close while using all weapons and strafing won't help you much.
Boost after it to prevent this.

It really depends on the rating and loadout of the ship.
I've killed some extremely easy, I remember one didn't even have shields at all.

Others can be really tough, like one that was pounding me so hard my shields had dropped from full before my shield cell was able to activate again.
It can be tough to stay behind an Elite NPC, so if you struggle, go to at least 2.2km away and pound from there flying backwards.

I suggest getting a plasma accelerator, once the shields are down it really makes short work of any sub-system.
You can even shoot from 2km+ if you fly backwards in a dead straight line - they often follow you in a dead straight line too meaning the projectiles should still hit.
Direct hits on the power plant will destroy it in about 5 hits, that's 15 secs at best - no other gun will match that.

Yo, OP, don't you get ticked off listening to your scanner do that inception noise every few seconds in a battle?

You can set it to a different fire group, you know...

Mind you, if that's what floats your boat, pray, continue. Ain't judgin'! :D

imo they are way to easy
they should have at lest 2 escorts maybe a pair of eagles for the ones that pay out like 150k
the ones that pay out 190+ should have a pair of Vipers or Cobras with them

Hopefully this sort of thing will come with the wings update, npc encounters currently need to be much more challenging.
