New Version of Cmdr's Log Available!

Thanks for this handy tool!
I started to use the custom field to store the distance of the station. I hate to travel a lot within a system. Would be nice to have a builtin distance field and it would be even better if the trade calculator would have the ability ignore stations where the distance is above a limit.

I just encountered a station which supplies Beryllium, but the supply is unknown...

In the list it's just empty and in the detail panel it shows as -

I've got no idea what to do with it... I compared the price to other stations and determined that it's likely HS, but I'm not sure...

(The station is Gardner Stop in LHS 3437)

a small (but irritating for me) one:

I have auto-search on but when I want to narrow the search by setting/unsetting the HS/MS/LS/HD/MD/LD checkboxes, the auto-search does not kick in.
It would be less annoying if I could just refresh the results by clicking on Search, but I have to turn auto-search off first.

The problem with that is that just one field isn't enough since you'd need to enter the distance from multiple systems, not just one.

It would also need to know your current jump range and calculate routes in case a system is not within a single jump.

Do you have Beryllium in your hold? That's the only time I've seen a station list a commodity they don't stock.

Yeah I did, I was on my way to a different station with it and was adding this to my database on the way.

But the station listed both a buy and sell price. It was weird.

I have a couple of things not working for me and one request
1. When I right click on a commodity and select the 'illegal' toggle it does nothing. I have to double click and set it via the price input window
2. When I double click a commodity in the commodity window it brings the main window back on top of the game but under the commodity window
Request
Is it possible to have a range input option on station info that can be used when doing trade searches. Nothing fancy just a display of the distance between the two trade systems I can work the rest out with my peanut sized brain :)

Ignore the ones where you have the commodity in your hold and there is no demand or supply for it, Personally I think this is a bug in the game as the station doesn't demand your commodity so you shouldn't be able to sell it, I've even been able to sell more goods than what they demand. If you didn't have the commodity in your hold, then you wouldn't have seen the prices.

#1 in v2 the "illegal" is now a toggle - the text will turn red when it's on. It means that you can specify "high demand", AND illegal at the same time, in previous version this wasn't possibly. The setting in the detail window when you double click the row - DO NOT use the illegal entry in the drop down, ArchV1 knows about this "bug" and will correct it in there at some point (maybe an "illegal" check box will appear on that screen?).

#2 I've just tested this and you are correct, it does happen that way - I've not noticed this before as I have the main window (and trading window) on my 2nd monitor and the commodity window & details on my elite main monitor.

#3 range option? not sure what you mean with this, when you say two trade systems are you talking about something like LAVE & DISC systems, or two stations within the SAME system? for the former - this would be very complex as multiple systems connect to LAVE (depending on your jump range) and this application is not a "route finder" type of application. I think it's a case of if you trade in an area a lot, then you will automatically know the distance over time. E.G How far do you travel to work? How far is it to the supermarket - I bet you know these answers without excel telling you, but the first time you went, you had to work it out. :)

Now if your talking about stations from the main star distance (e.g. Lave star to the Lave Station) - 34ls, 250ls etc then you can use a custom field and just enter the number/text.

Or just do what harag said.

Not sure if you know about the "Elite CoPilot" it might help:

Yeah! What harag said.

I have the illegal thing fixed, and yes there's a check box for it on the commodity detail dialog :)

Is it supposed to unset the illegal status when you set a commodity from "not set" to "none"?

Edit: This only seems to happen the first time changing it from "not set".

1. Great thanks, I misunderstood the toggle....cool
3. I didn't think this through :) it would be to complex ignore me I is a fool worthy of Mr T's wrath :D
Thanks, this thing is going to need a manual soon :)

Commanders,

VERSION 2.0c IS OUT NOW

Link Back to the Top

Enjoy!

Num-pad in trade window appears to still be broken. >:

But oh well, minor issue.

Also, the commodity details window can be moved, but when you close it and re-open it it resets to the center of the main window.

Could you make it remember it's position as well?

Excellent, another download for when I get home from this place I'm at called "work".

Just read the changes and spotted this:
>>>>
Just a few fixes for this build. Next up will likely be 2.1, where I plan on:

  • Making Search Result (Need/Have) a modeless window and adding age t o it (and possibly a few other tweaks)
  • Adding Age column to the Stations list that will show the min/max age of the commodities therein.
  • Support for other search modes like round trip, classic view.
  • Maybe alittle love for the Journal window finally!
<<<

For the next version can you also add the Age columns to the trade window please (age from updated and age to updated), this would be very useful on this screen. Any news on the "general notes" idea?

Thanks again!

We're running out of width pretty quick on the Trade window for more columns. I'll see if I can squeeze in there. Think you'll ever want to sort by age? If not we could almost stick the age in with the Commodity field.... so it would say "Imperial Slaves (5h)"

General notes eh? What would you want out of that... a big open field like notepad? Or do you need anything categorized or fancy with a Title and all that kind of stuff?

Ok. For the numpad I'll have to grab my spare keyboard. Kinda surprised it didn't work.

Commodity details window doesn't stay put anymore? I must have missed utilizing the settings for that window when I moved everything over to settings.txt. I'll probably hotfix that since it's pretty annoying.

Arch - Also, can you make the trading screen sort by highest total profit by default when round trip is selected? Right now it default sorts to the from station profit.
