[NO LONGER UPDATED] Controls Template 2

Update 29.09.2015:
I think this tool has done it's job and I have decided to stop updating it. So I have asked the mods to move the thread.
It's main purpose was to record control settings during beta and gamma when a new release would frequently reset all your bindings. This is no longer the case and there are also other tools out there that do much the same and which are better. Also recent downloads have been minimal to non existent. I do keep an updated but somewhat different version for my own use, so if you actively use this tool send me a PM and I'll get it to you.
-------------------
I have made yet another update to the Controls Template originally made by TheWombat. This time the template has been updated to reflect the Controls settings menu in Elite: Dangerous 1.2.

Controller settings in Elite Dangerous are getting quite complicated and it can be a daunting task to set everything up as you want it. If you add in external tools like Voice Attack and Roccat Powergrid it can become difficult.

To help with this TheWombat made a Controls Template in excel that lists all the different controls in Elite Dangerous together with fields for mapping commands for Voice Attack. As TheWombat has been busy of late I have updated his template.

Changes: 2015.03.31
Added lots of changes including Wings controls.
Removed the Roccat stuff (didn't fit in and looked messy).

You can find the template here.

List of changes
  • Added inked printer friendly version. (Controls Template v1.0.1 for Elite Dangerous 1.0.xlsx)
  • Updated the template to reflect the changes in descriptions and the order of the settings in the Controls menu in Elite: Dangerous 1.0 release
  • Updated to ED Beta 1.03 controls.
  • Added the help text from the game Controls menu.
  • Added pull down selection menu where relevant.
  • Added sliders that allows you to record approximately your in game slider settings.
  • Added second list of controller settings so you can do some planning with two setups
  • Made the different sections in the spreadsheet collapsible
  • Added templates for planning with Roccat Powergrid
  • Updated to ED Beta 2.04 controls. (2014.10.03)
  • Updated to ED Beta 3.01 controls (2014.10.30)
  • Fixed some errors and spelling (2014.10.30)
  • Changed the colours in the spreadsheet (2014.10.30)
  • Updated to ED Gamma 1.01 controls (2014.11.24)
  • Fixed some more errors and spelling (2014.11.24)
  • Updated control descriptions according to ED 1.0 (2014.12.20)
  • Updated the settings order according to ED 1.0 (2014.12.20)
  • Cosmetic changes(2014.12.20)
  • Added printer friendly version in separate sheet (Printer friendly design by JinjaBeardy). (2014.12.22)
  • Added missing "UI BACK" and "SENSOR ZOOM AXIS" settings. (2015.02.13)
  • Added a separated linked "reference sheet" formatted for use in forger's guide. (2015.02.13)
  • Added and changed a lot of settings for ED 1.2, including Wings controls. Quite a few changes this time. (2015.03.31)
  • Removed the Roccat stuff (didn't fit in and looked messy).

Don't worry about the preview that box.com forces upon you when you access the file. It doesn't look like that when you load it up in excel.

If you have suggestions or if you make changes that you think might interest others, please share and I'll try to update.

This is based on the original template made by TheWombat which you can find here. Big thanks to him for making the template available in the first place.

Thanks for that Gimi, that's really very useful. I've created a print-friendly version (just colour changes), if anyone is interested I'll post a link.

Do send me a link, I'll see If I can't add an additional sheet with printer friendly colours.
(Not sure if it's possible to "auto" copy the selection boxes and slider, but I'll check.)

Link sent via PM, I'm too new for the forums to let me post it here :( Hope this is useful :)

Thanks Gimi, I've been using Wombat's version (0.83) and have been hoping for an update. With the wipes in later Betas, and messing around with macros in the CH software now and then my keybinds would all reset. It's nice to have a template to refer to to set them back up quickly, instead of the old "trial and error" to tweak in things like deadzones and inverted axis. Rep given!

Hi all
Updated template to reflect changes in the Controls Setup menu in Elite: Dangerous 1.0 release.

Download and details in first post.
Feel free to make suggestions.

Another quick update.

Added a printer friendly version/sheet to the workbook. See first post for details.

ok this is going to sound but dumb these templetes you have to manully config you hot, so copy and paste everything, sorry just got the game

Nope, not dumb at all.
The reason for the template dates back to alpha and beta testing when controller bindings would change and/or be reset frequently. So the template was made to record your settings allowing you to reinstate them quickly.
Since ED still has no option to save controller bindings some people, like myself, still record their bindings and use it as a reference.
I also have different controllers on my main computer and my laptop and I play ED on both, so it's good to keep everything documented. Lastly, I have had problems with my bindings being lost even in the release version of the game (when I changed USB port on my X52 pro), so having the template is still useful.

The bindings can be backed up. They should be stored here (in Win7/8/81):
Code:
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings
I've also been told if you rename 'Custom.binds' to 'MyBinding.binds' or another name it will show up in the profile list in the game :)

My question - The dropdown profile, is it just to show a profile name or should it change all values? (I can't see it changes the values after changing profile)

Yes, I have backed up my binds files as well. I prefer to keep this updated for easy refrence as well though.
I did start on a system where the whole sheet would update if you changed the profile at the top (hence why it's there), but I quickly ran into problems and scrapped that idea. Now it's just for noting down a name for the profile.
My excel skills are not good enough I'm afraid.
