Worst ever Elite Anaconda (vs Viper)

Worst ever Elite Anaconda (vs Viper) ~2 min kill.

This was my first ever attempt at an Elite Anaconda in the assassination mission, while flying the Viper. It lasted 2 mins 11 seconds while using a sub-optimal weapons loadout.

If you're having trouble with these..not sure why. You literally just need to fly near them and they can't deal with it. A ship like the Viper shouldn't even need to use a Shield Cell.

Dear me, buff these encounters please Frontier.

I'll be happy to do the Assassination missions when they don't completely screw my reputation with every/some/most/a faction, randomly.

That's possibly why I'm still "unfriendly" with the Alliance after doing tons of these missions for them.

I did notice however that some of them are from a kind of "secret" agency? That could be the reason. I searched on the map for the faction but couldn't find them nearby.

You get some easy elite anaconda sometimes and they cant be bothered shooting back.

Not sure what you mean by sub-optimal weapons loadout, I'd say its exactly the weapons loadout you need, especially since having 100 point defense turrets still doesn't shoot at dumbfire missiles.

The Gimballed D2 beam lasers are pretty bad tbh.

I think the problem here is, even if it shot back it would have been dead in 2 minutes.

you would be better off with c1 than c2 beam lasers.

I basically just grabbed what was available, that's why I said "sub-optimal". For a target like this I'd normally just go with a fixed pulse or something, it's so easy to hit.

This is probably doable in ~90 seconds with better lasers I think. The Eagle required some thinking because of the lesser speed and weaker shields, but this was just a joke tbh.

This particular 'pirate lord' must have had too much grog. From what I remember in my assassination startups, I always left the fight wearing my thrusters for a hat. Although having got to grips with flight assist off, they pop fairly quickly under the fury of Viper's medium fixed pulses and small dumbfire launchers, I am still forced to use some shield cells. Never have I ran into one that can't be this bothered.

What is a joke though is if the assasination target is an Orca. With dumbfires, he never even manages to deploy hardpoints hahaha.

Buff them? Yeah, sure, a little. What I find needs looking into asap though is variety in these missions. I mean, of course you'll learn to (ridiculously) overpower if you're doing the same fight over and over again!

I'm loving the game for these stories but updates can't come soon enough.

I've never had an Orca mission though I've read about them. I can imagine how easy they must be...

I totally agree about variety, that alone would help.

I'd be very surprised if you actually needed a Shield Cell against any of the Elite Anacondas though. The ones in the resource points are a lot harder so hopefully it's just a case of them figuring out why these Elites are so lame.

Sometimes you get one like this, sometimes you get one that throws everything at you non stop and turns faster than a politician. I was once in a well-outfitted ASP with full hull, full shields, 4 pips to systems, and I was dead before my hardpoints deployed. They don't need to be buffed, they need to be normalized.

I don't think you need to buff the anaconda itself, but to spice up the mission in general. How about 300-500k missions where you not only have to fight the anaconda? Escorts are already working for traders, funerals and weddings, so why not add two sideys/eagles supporting the anaconda?

I have also complained about the total lack of challenge in the game. But fd does not care to listen or realy. They prob think it is challenging.

That's a really good idea actually.

Most Anacondas will fire back at you and attempt to turn to face you. But occassionally you get one that just seems to give up after a little while. You can see it tries to fight you in the start, but then kinda decides to just goof off.

I certainly hope to have missions like this, especially after wings have been implemented. What's the point of teaming up when the toughest kill mission targets are essentially pushovers even for a single Cmdr? (other than ganging up on other Cmdrs.)

My first kill on one of these took about the same time and I was in a cobra. I hit him for about 30 sec and then he never fired again after that. And I wasn't even really behind him. The next time I did an anaconda hunt I got my ass handed to me lol. I have never seen so many missiles coming at me and laser fire along with I believe multi-cannon which was odd. About ten seconds into the fight I was boosting out with cockpit busted up ship torn to hell with about 6% hull left. I made it back to a station. But made me plan better next time.

The ones in the assassination missions have some variety, but they are generally worse than randomly encountered NPC Anaconda encountered elsewhere, except for the few Harmless and Mostly Harmless ones that don't have shields.

At the RES site I was fighting at the other day, most of the Aanaconda there had a giant beam laser turret where the PA normally goes (I actually ran into one with seven laser turrets), and they all turned better than 9 out of 10 assassination targets.

Never seen such an none fighting Elite Anaconda in all my Elite Anaconda missions that I ever did.
Does the Game response to players kills or something? That's really world different than to what I meet usually.

IMO, that anaconda didn't put up much of a fight, I've seen much more aggressive NPC AIs.

Try a federal security AI, see if you still think it needs buffing after that.

P.s. Has anyone noticed that the NPCs rating generally has no relevance to the AI skill. I have Elites pass out and competants nearly handing me my ass
