Instancing Heavy PVPers together

There seems to be a divide, more or less, between folk that consider a lot of PVP to be trolling, and others who see PVP as the whole point of the experience. Given that Player-On-Player violence is marked up differently to Player-on-NPC violence, would it not be possible to use the matchmaking service to push heavy PVPers onto instances where they are coming up against other heavy PVPers? They get a more challenging time of it, which they should enjoy, while those who consider it trolling encounter less aggravation. Both parties get the game they want.

For transparency, I've not had much trouble with PVP violence, and consider it part of the game in any case. I've only had two encounters, one in combat (I popped, but it was fair game) and once outside a station (I fled and survived).

This would be entirely possible using the matchmaking system - the ratio of player/NPC kills and attacks, kill/death ratio and number of attacks made the player could all be taken into account. From the visible player data in Alpha and Beta, these statistics were recorded. I would expect that these statistics (and many more besides) are stored in the retail release.

I say "possible" as it would be a contentious move and unlikely to be implemented without a compelling case in its favour.

A possible weakness might be that there simply aren't enough heavy PVPers to make it workable, or for that matter enough people who feel it's a genuine problem. I know FD want to largely discourage PVP (without banning it outright).

Thrilled by both my encounters, so this is almost idle conjecture on my part, but something worthy of consideration, nevertheless.

I think non-pvp players should fly in mor secure system, but security systems must be more effective.
Then, pvpers will be flying on anarchy insecured systems and fight themselves.

matching pvpers to pvpers are not good option. game in this case should be more similar to life - if you going to center of city - you can feel safe. But if you walking Paris downtown at night - rather not.

I think this idea is extremely poor, and based on a false premise.

Firstly, let's just remember that Solo and Private Groups already provide a mechanism for players to controller their interactions with other players. Surely this is sufficient?

Anyway, there seems to be this idea that a "PVP" player only wants to fight other players, in a "beam lasers at dawn" type of duel. May the best man win. I guess there are some people like this, but most are not. I'm a pirate, and I have killed more than my fair share of players, but I'm not ever looking for a fight. If a fight is unavoidable, I make it as unfair and one sided as I can. Best situation for me is to avoid the fight altogether. "Profit and Survive from the labour of others". (Yes, I'm a scumbag, but remember it's just a role I play in the game).

If you chose to play in Open Mode, and trade rare goods, then I think you are accepting the risk of piracy (or indeed, various assorted psychopaths/sociopaths). As the OP said, he found it a thrill. If the piracy gets too much, then I think the best way forward is to find an in-game solution to an in-game problem. Hire someone to escort you. Travel in groups. Take shields instead of cramming every last bit of cargo into the ship.

Applying an out-of-game solution to an in-game problem is just flat out wrong.

Wait a minute! There are people who trade without buying biggest and meanest shield you can put into your ship? Strange.
