imo the choice is simple..
Use a docking computer and wait 2-3 mins while it docks, or dock manually and be docked in 20-25 seconds then go afk.
It's a no-brainer really.

I've been playing since the early Betas, got up to Merchant in the trading class and Scout in the Explorer. I've always used a docking computer, and have only had a little bit of trouble docking at the outposts. At the main stations I've never had any trouble at all. Sure, sometimes the landing would be a little ... uh, enthusiastic, but my shields take care of it. I can get up and do other things as soon as the docking computer takes over. No bouncing off of walls, crashing into other ships, no landing in the wrong pad.....
The NPCs use docking computers. I think that's all that needs to be said.
Lol true enough. I was shocked the first time I saw an Imperial Clipper "lost" on the top-side of the metal Cage, hiding away the station entrance. It -really- didn't understand how to get away from the station-hull and kept smashing itself against it......

I looked away as I dared not watch the cruel fate that befell the poor pilot![]()
