Large ships instantly turning around mid-fight

So I thought I was maybe just seeing things before when I would be fighting large ships and chasing them down from their 6 O'Clock and suddenly they were facing me head on. Until tonight I was fighting an Anaconda NPC on the hit list. I got him down to 24% and was exactly at his rear within 150m just letting loose on his drives when suddenly it instantly flipped around on me and blasted me with a plasma shot right into my cockpit and pretty much instantly took me out. If any devs read this please look into this. NPC targets already have an advantage without being able to instantly and magically turn the other direction.

The enemies also keep reversing as well as they FAOff which makes it alot harder to get in behind them or stay in a Condas blind spot... people keep talking about NPCs are way too easy but FD seems to be slowly upping their talent. They all can orbit and fire as well as flip.

Would a randon player be easier or harder? Depends if they can utilize FA Off and keep the broadside pointed at the enemy if they are using turrets.

Someone needs to learn how to flight:) That is so far the funniest complaint I've seen today - "I don't know how to handle this thing and don't want to learn so FD, please, make those NPCs waiting while I kill them."
I don't know what kind of ship you have but I've been hit with a Plasma only once in a Clipper while I was selecting sub-system in Left UI. Otherwise it's quite easy to avoid.

I'm not talking about a fast turn around. I mean a glitched flip. Like I'm staring at its rear thrusters then suddenly it snaps to me staring down its forward cannons.

Oh you must be pro, huh? Like you know I'm even talking about. I can "flight" just fine. I'm talking about a glitch mechanic. I can avoid being blasted with plasma, but when I'm riding their "butt" (Can't say the other word because FD gets panties in a bind when I do) then suddenly they're snapped forward and blasting me with everything before I can react what am I supposed to do? You OBVIOUSLY have all the answers Maverick. So tell me....

OK, so boost, flight assist off, and flip the ship?

I'll try that as soon as the game fixes all the bugs that are annoying me :)

In it's simplest form, yes, but to be really effective you would want to be controlling your fore and aft thrust as well to prevent you travelling long distances at the same time. Will take some time to perfect.

I don't know what kind of glitch are you talking about. I've dealt with about 15 elite Anacondas and never seen such a glitch. I also can't check turning speed of Anaconda with A8 thrusters but Python with A6 thrusters(I think those are the highest for Python) does 180 with FA off and boost in about 1.5sec. I can try Anaconda with A6 thrusters.

[...] when suddenly it instantly flipped around on me [...]

How exactly is "instantly" defined here? Was there even an animation of his ship turning? If no it sounds like a bug or something. If yes how long did he manage to do the flip?
Just asking because some people use terms like instantly when we talk about 5 seconds ^^

EDIT: oh sorry I oversaw your post where you already answered my question. Then it sounds like a bug/glitch/whatever thing like the escape vector while being interdicted jumping around !instantly! for no reason.

This happens when you are interdicted with high level interdictor and the price for that thing is insane(something like 30mil)

I'd say he's either exaggerating or it was a desync issue.

I've just tried Anaconda with A6 thrusters fully loaded. 180 takes about 3 sec. So I surmise that empty with A8 thrusters it can do it in about 1.5.
So unless the glitch you are talking about didn't have animation then it is not a glitch.

Hmm I have noticed a few NPC ships rubberbanding / teleporting on current build (1.05), I don't know where the servers are located but assume it's a lag issue.

Hasn't happened since beta, but I've also teleported into station walls a couple of times. Like, *inside*, could see out both sides but couldn't move without taking damage.

It's not the location of the servers but the location of the player who's PC is controlling the NPCs that you need to worry about. However I thought they'd improved the match making so you weren't matched with people too far away. I guess friends lists over ride that though.

So THAT was the improvement in matchmaking? Are you sure?

Because you hardly see any players right now. So an improvement for me would be, that as long as there are not more than 32 players in the same system at the same time they all get put in the same instance...
