Lost bounties after ship destruction

OK, so i was in a dog fight with another ship and i broke off the attack and started a turn, when out of nowhere a sidewinder rams me (i know it was a sidewinder because it was the last thing i seen) i heard shields off line and then ship destroyed.

I was kinda and slighty off with dying because of being rammed and having 100 shields and hull. I paid the 160,000 for insurance for a new cobra and when i got back into the cockpit, i checked the bounties that i had collected (35 fed, 32 empire and about 20 alliance) all gone!

Is this a bug? or the way it's supposed to be, cos it sucks! i can deal with the insurance.. but i can't see how losing the ship cost me my bounites.

It's by design, Michael Brooke said it was unlikley to change as it's a part of the risk/reward design focus.

Really?.. well it doesn't make sence.... it (annoyed @~@~) me off more than the stupid way the ship was destroyed.

It makes quite a bit of sense. Your ship is the only place that info is held until you cash it in, hence if your ship is destroyed the insurance replacement has none of the data. The same thing happens with exploration data and as mentioned it is by design.

But it remembers bounties on you, even though you are dead.

Indeed it does. However, as the game stands, every role requires to get back to a station to profit from their endeavours, whether they be pirates, traders, miners, explorers, bounty hunters, mission takers, etc..
