You think rares are rare? where the heck is platinum?

I've played since premium beta, and I don't think I've ever seen a station or outpost or a trade route on the galaxy map with platinum in it. Never. Simply not in the game?

This is still not trading. I have never mined a single ore in the game, so I'm sure there's platinum to mine, but I've traded myself up to a Python and yet to see any station/outpost to sell it.

I might be wrong but I think I recall seeing it once. It's definitely rare but I'm almost positive I had a mission to find 10 of them for a station and could only afford 8 and failed it.

I have never brought it, its never cheap enough to make it worth while, but I have mined it and found it floating in space, nothing like finding a nice juicy platinum/palladium asteroid

Yep. Palladium (the stuff for ~13,5k) I saw sometimes - but Platinum (~18k) NEVER.

I agree Mellom Platinum seems to be rare.
Haven't been able to buy anywhere yet but have mined it I believe near Mexicassa.

Of the few hundred stations and outposts I've explored, I think I've found maybe 1 or 2 that sell it. It is ultra rare in that sense.

Palladium on the other, can be bought just about anywhere.

Dude, just look at the right hand panel in the commodities market. You will see from where a commodity is imported and to where it is exported. If that's too much of a hassle, check the trading tools from 3rd party developers. There are several on this forum.

I have a route that sells Palladium for 13.2k and a recipient that wants it for 14.2k, give or take a hundred creds or so. It's my most profitable commodity as it's only a single hop away.

I think I've seen Palladium at other Extraction / Refinery sites. Platinum I don't think I've seen before.

i've picked up platinum several times for the resource collection missions, can't remember exactly where from now,but as the mission were from Shinrarta, probably either or both Eravarenth (both platforms) and Codorain Cormack Hub.
