the amount of times ive seen players flogging the throttle in and out of stations and on occasions (you know who you are) straight into my clipper (class 7 A) shield and insta pop is amazing. listen to the hot english lady in station and.... SLOW DOWN i dont mind doesnt break thru my shield but dam dude you scatter goodies all over the dock and we cant pick it up in front of the cops. if you see me coming in dont push past you end up a splat on my widscreen

My type 9 insta-popped a clipper on Saturday. I did the "oops thats not the landing gear button, thats the boost button" and shot across the station into a Clipper trying to land. My apologies to whoever that was.

hahaha @shads it makes you laugh though first time i got one i couldnt stop laughing so much i was crying.

GEEZ you lot don't pay attention when playing, if you explode in any way - crash in station - get shot to bits - whatever the cause,

you can get your ship back with your full load out - EVEN if you have ZERO credits to cover the insurance the game mechanics allow it you get a 'loan'

(which you dont seem to pay back <- but that might be because I haven't paid attention to the detail afterwards)

You can only get 200k maximum as a loan. If you have a Cobra then no problem, if you have an Asp then you would need Alpha level insurance premiums to be able to just about get it.

The loan is paid off at 10% on each transaction profit you make. No time limit.

Just want to point out that it would only work if the ship costs less than 200

Err pretty sure I used it with a Asp twice definitely used it with cobra and that's 370k just for the ship mine was kitted out with about 5m worth of gear

Did you have 0 credits? I lost my asp because I had ~200k credits and my insurance was around 400k, it said I needed 39k credits to afford insurance. This would mean that it added the 200k loan to my current credits. So if the cobra was 370k, you may have had 170-200k and the extra 200k just made it purchasable again.

Though I may be wrong on how the loan works, I know for a fact I couldn't buy my ASP again.

Yes, its very disheartening when you loose everything. I feel your pain. Ive done it twice now. Forgot to request docking and lost 2.5M and then 2.9M. Both times I sulk quit and returned the next day to make up my losses. I break up my play by having the T7 and a Viper. I spent all weekend looking for pirates who were hiding from me. Then I realised I was looking in anarchy places and theyre all bleeding 'clean' there, so the people i suspected and let go were the damn peeps i was looking for.

If it was easy and there were no dangers then it would be dull.

I spend weeks trying to build up any money in this repetition grind. Then I crash into some black ship blocking the entrance to a station, and loose millions.

No one cares that I'm done. I know. But I wanted to rant because... this is bad design.

I'm with you. The fanboys will for sure tell you it's your fault, blah blah blah... But I agree. If this would have been just a freaking offline game you could just go back to your latest save game. But unfortunately we've got this half done beta of a online game that doesn't have any meaningful online features...

IMO the party in a crash who caused the higher damage by being the faster of the two should get a penalty, at least close to a station. In other words pay your fee AND the fee to your victim. If I hit somebody with my car I (or my insurance) usually have to pay for the damaged I've caused. But well, it's 3300 and we can't even record market data but have FTL drives. So much for a believable universe...

I find it amazing how ED brings out the failings in the society of the 20th century - notice how people buying ships and cargo they can't afford to run / replace is very akin to people overstretching themselves on their houses / possessions that they can't really afford to have, and when it comes crashing down, they really suffer!

(Disclaimer - if anyone has got into a bad situation in real life, I am sorry, I'm not trying to flame - everyone in this world is guilty of overstretching - me included!)

Thanks to this stupid obsession the company has with online play, there's no old save to go back to, no cheat to not have to spend weeks grinding the same missions over and over and over.

I'm done with the game. It's not fun enough to play for any reason other than to build, and to suddenly die over something so stupid, leaving me with no ability to re-equip... I'm not ready to spend a month of what little free time I have to get back to where I started.

right the stupid ship that blocked your path was probably a NPC online or offline that npc still would have been there !!! the real question is why did you even try to go in with a big stupid ship blocking your way? i tell you this i would not want to be a passanger in a car with you

, and perhaps this sort of game just isn't something you are able to figure out. You have no one to blame but yourself, and your lack of foresight.

gotta love white knights defending a conpany that cancels promised features it acquired its budget with.
shareholder?

continue defending the trojan horse buddy.

Maybe they'll add multiple save slots in the cash shop that would have been a staple feature for an offline non-DRM game.

Not sure where you are coming from. The OP died and lost a fortune completely on his own behalf, it was him alone failing to follow those few simple rules that exist in that game.

When will people learn NOT to embarrass themselves publicly??

Yeah but this being an online game ..(wait for it)... he cannot find a cheat to recover its loss

LOL

I cant help smile everytime I see one of these threads. There tend to be 2 outcomes. Either the OP suck it up and start again. Or they just ragequit.. Anyway....

i flew my type 9 very close to the limit and had to fly without insurance a few times to get the money cusion up.

all the time i knew i was risking it and had to be very very careful indeed.

i i failed i would have been back in a side winder with my 1000 credits.

but one place i would NOT be is here whining like a little kid about how, the big bad devs stole my money with bad game design.

it's not bad game design, your just being a dolt, man up and try again but this time play properly.

No cash reserved for insurance? Nevermind:

Having read through this thread and shook my head in disbelief at the op two quotes come to mind;

Never argue with a fool; onlookers may not be able to tell the difference

and

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience

read OPs post, if game would be offline as promised there would be multiple savegame slots like in any damn single player game since 1990, including all other Elite games, but no-- it needs pseudo online one save slot DRM for some absurd reason, wait for savegame slots on the chash shop, it's going to happen! Only 20£ per slot or 1000 Frontiercoins, yippi yeah
