The Thread Of War - To Find Active Conflicts

iSBnQjM.gif

I currently fount myself wondering how many actual wars are taking place within the ED universe, so i could perhaps dabble in some active conflicts, I though i would try to record all ongoing wars along with there status and conclusion, past & present starting from the year of our emperor 3300AD.
If i have missed anything, or you know of any occuring conflicts currently, please let me know (with a screenshot if possible? or i'll check them out anyway), so i can add it to the first post, so that others can see and perhaps contribute to any ongoing conflicts. Please point out any errors i may have made!

Please feel free to use this has an opportunity to perhaps promote a conflict if for personnal interest, if trying to get the word out for more pilots to attend a conflict zone. If you can provide the details off the conflict in a similar format to my own, i can add it to the list, and hopefully those with a similar cause may join the fray. If you can provide a screenshot of having racked up a significant amount of warbond in a conflict zone, special mention can be made to you in the record below.

For the moment the list is pretty small, since these are the only current conflicts i have known off.

"Ferris" Beginner Tips For Combat Zones (Compliments To Ferris For the Guide) Please Vist his thread if you have any questions. Thank you to Ferris for allowing me to use his guide within this thread, to help newcomers.

**Before you enter a conflict zone consider this**
The enemies you will be facing in conflict zones are often packing some serious hardware, including high grade ship modules, weapons and armor. They also range from novice to elite combat ranking. They will likely be much tougher than NPCs you have faced in the regular bulletin board missions, nav-points or USSs. I would advise having some prior combat experience and a good knowledge of how the sys/eng/wep pips system works.
Make sure you are happy to pay the insurance on your ship before you enter your fist conflict zone and end up with 3 Pythons sending cannon fire your way. Of course if you just started and are still in an unmodified Sidewinder, you have nothing to loose... so just go for it!

1) Where can I find systems with conflict zones?
-Conflict zones (CZs) occur in systems that are in a state of civil war, there are a couple of ways to find these systems... AgentGB has put together a list of conflict zones on his 'Thread of War'. Another way you can find CZs is through the System View from the Galaxy Map. The System View provides information about each faction and importantly each faction has a status such as Boom, Lockdown, Civil War etc. If you find a system that has 2 factions in a state of civil war, there should be CZs.
-Alternatively if you wish to find out about the status of factions within the system where you are currently located, you can get an at-a-glance view from the Right UI panel... Select the 'Status' tab and then go to the 'System Status' sub-menu.
-Major conflicts are also reported in the Galnet news feed so it is worth keeping an eye on it.

2) OK I am in the system, where are the conflict zones?

-When you get to a system in civil war, use your Navigation menu within your Left UI panel. This will list any local CZs.
-CZs will only show up in the Navigation menu when you are within 1000ls. If you cannot find any CZs, try Supercruising to some of the more distant planets. Once you are close enough the CZs will appear in the navigation menu.

3) What's the difference between High and Low intensity conflict zones?
(More testing is needed here as I am not 100% sure about the differences but here is what I have experienced).
-Low intensity zones have a static number of combatants for each faction with one faction having a surplus of ships. Choosing the faction with the most ships should make life a little easier. It also seems that the NPCs in low intensity zones are not quite so skilled and their ships are not as well equipped.
-High intensity zones seem more unbalanced and you could find your chosen faction is hugely outnumbered.

4) I'm in the conflict zone, what now?
-OK...time to choose which faction to fight for. This is done by accessing the Right UI panel then go to the Functions tab, the top option is Faction. Click on this and a small sub-menu will appear allowing you to select who you want to fight for.
-If you get a bit trigger happy and take a shot at one of the ships before choosing, all ships belonging to that faction will instantly turn hostile and you will no longer be able to side with them.
-Once you have chosen a side, be ready!! As soon as you choose, you become fair game for any of the opposing factions' ships.
-For those with smaller or less well equipped ships, you may find it easier to stay around the edges of the conflict zone, pick your target, take a few shots at them and try to kite/drag them away from the main fight before fully engaging them. This will hopefully stop you from being engaged by multiple enemies simultaneously.
-If you find yourself being pounded by several enemies and your shields are rapidly collapsing, your first thought may be to put 4 pips into shields straight away. However you may find it better to put 4 pips to engines and boost away to a safe distance first as shields can take quite a while to re-activate. Don't be afraid to make like the shepherd and 'Get the flock out of there'.

5) Do I get any rewards?
-Combat Bonds of 3000 credits are awarded to you for kills made within the CZ. This may need some clarification but it seems you don't have to get the kill-shot to be awarded the Combat Bond.
-To turn in the combat bonds fly to a station controlled by the faction you were fighting for and select 'Contacts' from the main station services menu. You can then retrieve your hard earned cash and gain a reputation increase with the faction.
-Remember, Combat Bonds are the same if you kill an Eagle or an Anaconda, so there is really no need to take on the larger ships unless you are up for the challenge.
-Kills within a CZ will also increase your combat ranking.
-CZs are not as financially viable as bounty hunting, however if you have a vested interest in one of the warring factions you can throw your support behind them.
-In systems with conflicts there may be bulletin board missions available asking you to destroy a number of ships within a CZ. You will receive the mission reward as well as any combat bonds earned (you still have to pick a side upon entering the zone AFAIK).

OK that's it... Good hunting CMDRs!

"SIFJAR" has some epic battles now. Alot of "High Intensity zones" around.

I jumped in a few, and there were like 40 ships going at it. Had a snack and just watched.

There's a couple of H.I. conflict zones in Caspatsuria (next door to Achenar) that just showed up today. Didn't find any CMDRs there :/

I will fight mainly for the Federation so I chose that in the poll. I also chose independent simply b/c if the Empire is ever at war with one I'd have no problem helping them out IF it would benefit me at the time.

thanks chap's, gonna go check them out shortly, just to find the details behind the conflict, and then will add shortly! thank you very much for the heads up! if you pass through there every now and then, let me know if it looks like it's over, will check back at these locations every three day's myself to try and record when it ended.

btw, not sure if you have seen this? look's like another system is doing 10% off on all outfittings.

Boom Time in LHS 3447

The Future of LHS 3447 party are celebrating an economic boom in their system. They have announced that they will share that good fortune as part of their future development initiatives.

“The success of LHS 3447 is in large part due to the numbers of independent pilots who pass through and trade in this system. In fact Trevithick Dock is known for being the starting point for many pilots’ careers.

“In recognition of this we are subsidising a 10% discount for all pilots using the shipyards and outfitting facilities in Trevithick Dock, Dalton Gateway and Worlidge Terminal.”

Oh dear, similar to me, but on other sides :p

yeah just checked it out, basically two factions both fighting to to stop each other from changing each other's goverment in the opposing ports to their own.
graham hanger (sifjar hand gang) - anarchy, and mobius platform (revolutionary sifjar free) independant. Looks pretty brutal, 13 conflict zones, not sure how these "checkpoints" work, and if you attack them, if they will have a more dramatic impact on the war, but seems to be rallying points for reinforcements, so would imagine so. At the moment it's a bit of a tie breaker in terms of whom is winning.

There's a couple of H.I. conflict zones in Caspatsuria (next door to Achenar) that just showed up today. Didn't find any CMDRs there :/

yeah seems like someone has got the people of Caspatsuria all riled up, they currently look like there trying to declare independance from the imperials, and are also in a state of expansion. The other imperial goverment in the system "Empire Assembley" are currently approaching a civil war of there own, but also have the status expansion, i can't see who there target is off the moment?

Currently with the uprising of the resistance, Empire League versus New Caspatsuria Resistance, both are sitting at 1%. Looks pretty messy for the empire, may have to go and have a wack, make sure the imperials pull out a head.

--

So both these conflicts are resting on a knife edge, the Caspatsuria conflict being the interest for imperial pilots to restore order, and the Sifjar conflict perhaps being in the interest of anyone wishing to either see two pirate ports, two independant ports, or perhaps insure a stalemate.

The Battle for Third Place In Hemaki
(Date) 19th Jan -
Conflict - (Civil War) High Intensity x1 / Low Intensity x 1 / Checkpoints x 3
Result - Active (Current influence 1% / 1%)
Location - Hemaki (Federation System)
Belligerents - (Independant) Liberty Party of Hemaki Versus (Independant) Hemaki Limited
Forces - Medium Combatant
Commanders/Leaders - Unknown

There seems to be a bit of strife between a couple of independent factions in Heike...

Heike Co vs Heike incorperated.

5 high intensity zones and 3 low intensity ones - I've no idea what they're fighting about.

The controlling faction is the "Revolutionary Hekie Revolutionary Party" and they're currently giving out missions to kill any ships in a warzone.

thank you! both added!

Looks like the "Revolutionary Hekie Revolutionary Party" have declared open season on them both, not sure if they are also in a state of war with the two corperate factions (perhaps undeclared - and missions will keep Rev party influence high), but would make sense to batter them both down, if one of the independant factions win there civil war, since i presume there fighting for control of both stations, they can rival the Revolutionary party. Although looking at there influence, i don't think Revolutionary party will have much trouble keeping the status quo.

I just checked out Heike, Gliese 868 and ross 780. Nothing going on in any of them

Now... this is strange...

I've just been in Heike 15 mins ago, in a conflict zone shooting Heike independants. Then logged out.

Saw your post and logged back in and you're right - no conflict zones - but Brunel City is still offering missions to kill ships in the "warzones"...

Interesting, - I'll try to see what's happening & send a ticket in.

hmmm strange, heike states it's in a civil war, unless there are no conflict zones? ill check it out personnally. Gliese 868 & ross 780 may be the case. I stole these shamelessly from this helpful thread. I will go round and check all three either later tonight or tommorrow, need to get some trading done.

Just dropped into one of the HI zones and there was plenty going on maybe 50 ships going at each other.
If there are capital ships in system would they show up in the nav tab or are they within one of the zones?
