ETA: I must say, if you had told 12-year old me playing Elite on a C64 with wireframes that I would some day be watching an image like this, as big as this, while controlling the game with my voice I wouldn't have believed it. Sometimes the little things really drive home the advances.

I have a projector at home as well and its 120".. I dont normally use it, but ive tried it and its fun.... i mounted it right above my head and sit in a nice chair with my hotas... feels like im actually looking out the front of the ship

Above the head sounds good. I jury-rigged a screen tonight from a Walmart light-blocking curtain, and the projector itself was right in front of me between the stick and throttle to get maximum size. I keep thinking that the best way to do this would be to get a view-through screen and project it from behind so I could be about 4 feet from the screen.

William Shatner is a very bad actor. You have to be a really good actor to play a part as badly as William Shatner which means you're not acting as a bad actor which means you're not impersonating William Shatner.

Are there any viable Virtual Reality sets aside from the Facebook Rift?

Currently the Rift isn't viable either. I love it, don't get me wrong, but the DK2 isn't ready for prime time just yet.
